So I have a 29 templar I take into Cyrodil as often as I can. ANY veteran player can basically two shot me. Basically, I buy a bunch of siege engines, use those. I put away my sword and board and just basically heal.

Good strategy?

quick question for you - do you normally play solo or in a group/guild, and are you on a busy campaign like wabba or a lower pop one?

    Dleatherus VR10 Templar

Emperor Farmers, cheaters and exploiters - just like cockroaches in real life, Tamriel will never be rid of them

I generally join with 5 or 6 of guildies and we pick up stragglers. I rarely solo, since I can't really do any of the quests solo yet.

Edit: A low pop one. I'm trying to move to wabba.

Yep, healing is a good strategy until you hit veteran levels at least. Also, get the purge skill from the assault tree...

basically, get as tanky as you can and run away from any vet players.

I would suggest to ignore PvP untill you reach vet1.
As vet1 you can heal effectively (as non vet you will cast few heals and your mana will be gone)

Even as vet1 do not play PvP much and focus on leveling up. Veteran players are no way equal.

Recently made an alt.. once I hit level 10, I went to cyrodiil with a buddy that also made an alt. It's not impossible to kill VR12's as a level 10... just have to be careful to pick your fights.

ie. no point in attacking a VR12 DK with nobody around but you 2 level 10's.. not even if he's at 10% health, naked and AFK.

Just stay near friendly players or attack when you have a clear escape path.

    Alliance Rank 4 atm ;P

That DK is.good stuff:-) I remeber paying my NB 22 and I knocked DK from horse, smashed him with all skill I had, he was using light armor and sword and shield. He was still blocking and I did no dmg at all for one minute:-D. Then another V12 player came in and killed me in two seconds. I though that I could perhaps kill him when he drain his stamina, but DK can also selfheal which I can not on MY nb.

I did not pick any self heal skills, I consider them lame. Healer should be resto staff user or templar. Other skills should be only cc or dmg. But that is new trend in MMOs to give every class selfhealing. :-)

When i used to play Star wars galaxies back in 2004 i remember duelling this guy on my doc/rifles (he was some melee template iirc) and i used to beat him easily everytime.. He got so irate that he was saying things like "You're only winning because you can heal! If you didn't have any healing i'd beat you easily!"
Despite the fact my template had to give up on a LOT of extra defenses and abilities to be able to fit in doctor whereas he had all these extra defenses and added abilities that i did not.
He chose to forgo any healing to try and squeeze out every last bit of damage of defense on his character.

I forget my point now..

Self healing in these days in MMOs will win you 90% of duels against someone without self heal. Unless this heal can be interupted or it's effect reduced. That is why I use that ultimate which reduces healing by 50% (hope it is not bugged and works :-D) problem is when you play without selfheal there is no space for mistake as it will cost you dearly. :-)

I basically spec'd tank/sword and board. My build is a beast solo play and tanking. I just started adding some healing skills. I'll see what I can do in the back of my group doing heals.

Edit: Oh, I am leveling a DK but, with my luck, they'll have nerfed it into the stone age by the time I hit VR

I disagree with this advice. Participating directly in PVP fights is the best way to improve your skills and test which abilities work better than others. I have observed a number of skilled lowbies solo VR12 players, and I have occasionally done the same from level 30+.

I have also observed many players reach VR12 and suddenly realize they must completely change their build because they did not have an opportunity to participate in PVP and test their abilities against other players until they got to level cap.

I love PVP in this game. The only issue I have is the lack of cooperation and organization between factions. I really wish that everyone who enters Cyrodil would immediately be added to a raid consisting of all players in that faction.

True IcyDeadPeople ...such good advice for PvP! Much like in PvE if one groups regularly the ability to gear up, learn from other players and gain experience definitively sets one apart from those who do not have such an opportunity before arriving at PvE endgame.

*Nod to IcyDeadPeople for good stuff.
