2h Templars: Brawler or Carve?

When using 2handed for AoE tanking/damage, which morph do you go with?

Brawler's damage shield on hit seems like it would synergize well with Sun shield, but now that Empowering Sweep reduces damage taken rather than increasing armor, is the extra mitigation it provides when used more often a better choice? If I go with carve instead of brawler, i lose a damage shield in favor of being able to gain ultimate much quicker, and subsequently being able to use empowering sweep more often for the damage reduction.

Looking at this primarily from a tanking point of view (1h/shield on one bar, with a 2handed bar for aoe groups), but also as a support dps role for when tanking is not needed.
