I believe the OP is referring to software regressions, introduced by the patches. These patches are intended to "fix", but without proper regression testing, can (and have) resulted in many regressions.
In other words, the updates (fixes) have irretrievably broken the game. Hence, "fixed beyond repair". OP's opinion, not mine, btw.
