Simply Misread [15]

I just attempted to do Simply Misread twice with no success. I got to the point of Equip the Wabbajack. Once I did so I went to the Acolytes to use it like I did when my main toon went through this quest. Once I approached them nothing happened. I wasn't able to talk or use the auto bind of E to use the Wabbajack.

When I reloaded my ui & nothing changed I closed my game client. Once the game was closed I restarted my whole computer just in case it was something on my end. When I logged back into that character I was reset as if I had never gone in the portal at all. I know this only because my Soul Summons debuff had about 10 minutes left & it shot back up to 53 minutes. The best part, I had to do every thing all over again. Had to get the fork & Wabbajack.

Has any one else had this issue since the last patch? I'm not sure when this happened & want to know if it's just my account or every one with this mission.

I've always had to equip the Wabbajack in place of a normal weapon to use it.

To use wabbajack you replace your ordinary weapon and use light attack on the acolytes. Done it last week.

I had to move the Wabbajack to my equip slot myself then use a light attack on the acolytes.

I was trying to do heavy attacks not light attacks lol

This is not the only quest in the game where the interaction is not E (use) but Equip, as in, equip from inventory. It's one of the first things that happens in Coldharbor, when you have to equip a weapon to get out of the forge.

I guess that "Simply Misread" is a good title. "Equip the Wabbajack" is, erm, exactly what you have to do, as others have pointed out.

That doesn't make it easier, but I suspect a lot of people, me included, have simply misread the directions...

Always remember to unequip it afterwards. It doesn't work too well on gargoyles. Don't ask me how I know that.

@Srugzal‌, I had it equipped. I was trying to do heavy attacks with it not light attacks which is what you're supposed to do.

That has nothing to do with light/heavy attack. You had equipped it, like a weapon? That's why "E" didn't work. Lots of special items display the use ("E") prompt, but since it's in a weapon slot, it doesn't.

In any case I don't remember the heavy attack not working. If that's true that would be some kind of bug, I would think. I'm levelling another character, when I get there I'll check that out. That might be worth a bug report.

The wabajack is the "oddest" Quest item of all, because it is not use by hitting 'E'.
It counts as a weapon of type healing staff that has to be equipped, but did not enable all healing staff skills properly (reported this as a bug).

In order to use it you have to "attack" the targets using light attack while having the staff as your choosen weapon.

I guess Sheogorats chaos even affects the game mechanics in his quests
But what do you expect from somebody who breaks the 4th wall when saying you "Choice A = 2 skillpoint" in one quest...
