Problems in Hopefire

Today my raid group decided to go wonder into Hopefire and see what the campaign was like, we were there 10 minutes before we got scorned for repairing walls, and killing other players, publicly chastised for playing the game.

We are then informed, that walls do not get repaired, that they leave them open for DC to take the keeps then they take them back to keep cycling emperor, while this sounds nice, this is against the TOS.

We decided to repair and defend a keep and people in the campaign started coming and dying just to use or camp, this is unacceptable behavior and I thought it needed to be reported to the devs.

Plenty of that kind of thing happening in more than a few campaigns I'm afraid. For what it's worth, I'm not a fan either.

ZOS know about it, not sure what action they have taken regarding it though, I've seen nothing to date.

There are plenty of thread and posts about Emp flipping, people feel very strongly about it from both sides of the fence. In other words, those participating in the Emp flipping see it as their right as they are paying $15 a month to play the game the way they want to. On the other side of the fence, the people that are opposed to it find it disgusting and not in the 'spirit' of the game.

Personally, I think it has devalued the title of "Former Emperor", which is a shame.

When I see a former Emp I always wonder if he/she earned it or was a part of a group that is Emp flipping. It's sad that I'm thinking that way as there are many former emp's out there that have earned it for sure.

Talk about putting a tarnish on what should be a very desirable title. (Passives aside of course, that's another debate in itself)

Though, to go to these lengths to do it, and to avidly work to stop anyone who comes in to want to play. It is disgusting, the DC in this campaign are so used to not being killed they walk right by us without attacking

ah, so its not AD anymore? the "lame people" as I will call them, in hopesfire is now DC? hmm. well, don't be surprised. that campaign was ran by cheaters and all those lovely kinds of people for months. its part of the reason a lot of people quit it in the first place. hopefully ZOS does something about it at some point.

Okay, so Hopesfire history as of today.

Previous campaign: Only saw 3 emps, all AD. So, 3 of them for the total campaign length.

Current Campaign has seen 6 emps to date. The campaign has been going for less than two weeks, 3 blue emps and 3 red to date.

As much as I don't like Emperor farming, can you please link the exact paragraph where it states this is against TOS and/or EULA please?

I too read what the OP posted as well and thought, yeah that's not actually the case, but I moved forward from that, as it is right now, it doesn't matter.

I was under the belief that it was against the TOS to work with the other alliance in the pvp arena

Generally, every side but the one you are on will be the "lame" side. Everyone does bad things, no side is in anyway less culpable than another. It's not like honorable people are drawn to EP for some inexplicable reason.

But yea, this has been happening for awhile, and when I see "Former emperor" now all I see is "cheater". I'm really surprised any of them think bearing the title is anything but an embarrassment. Do they feel they actually earned and/or deserve said title?

I think the tiny buffs I what they want from it. even though it does not really make any difference at all in combat from my POV.

Well my guild is building, and we are going to attempt to run and take the territory, and keep the walls repaired, we shall see, ive been in there a day and already rank 20th in line for emperor

I got double teamed last night with both blue and reds that were all together in what could only be described as a hunting party, after they wiped us they proceeded to do a dolmen together. I couldn't believe it, a dolmen....together?... Really?

That was on another campaign, not Hopesfire and it's not just one faction that is doing this, all factions including your own (whatever that may be) are doing this unfortunately. I've just chosen not to be a part of this, I've been in a group before where the group leader has said, leave red, we have an 'understanding' with them and they wont attack us if we don't attack them.

That's fine, it's your game so you can play the way you want, it's your $15 per month to do what you want with, but if I'm in a group like that, I'll quietly leave and find something else to do. That kind of thing doesn't sit well with me, but I understand as to why others feel it's okay.

I was talking to a guildy last night that is okay with the idea of collusion, he made a good point when he said that many times in many battles throughout history two opposing forces would join together to defeat another opponent, you know, for the greater good and all. And that is true, of course it never ends well as history shows us. So it does make sense that this would become a reality in a game we obviously have some passion about.

It's currently a game mechanic that exists, and I can't see it going anytime soon, so don't let it beat you up. Just think about it another way, they are teaming up because by themselves they are weak and powerless.
