All races have the same skeletal structure?

One thing about the game that has been bugging me is the fact that whenever you encounter skeletons, no matter what race they are from, they all look exactly the same. Of course, this makes some sense for the human races, but surely the mer would have more angular skulls. Even worse is the presentation of Khajiit and Argonians; there is no way that they would have human skulls and teeth, and their tails disappear completely. The game doesn't even attempt to work around this; one of the quests in Coldharbour shows you a Khajiit and an Argonian undergoing the transformation from living to undead, and provides no explanation as to why they have human skeletal structures. I'm not the only person who's so ticked off by this, am I?

Yeah this kinda bugged me too but I guess its just easier to use the same skeleton for all skeletons no matter the race.

Most likely it was done to...

Reduce assets in files downloaded and stored on your hard drive because different racial skeletons require separate meshes, textures and animations...

Using one skeleton for all reduced the workload of 3D mesh makers.

Reduces time doing UVW maps used by the texture artist to create textures.

Saves time on new textures texture artists need to do.

It saves time on character rigging...rigging a character (in this case a skeleton character) can be time consuming and tedious to rig to the underlaying character skeleton used to animate the character.

Animators don't have to animate two new skeleton characters, think of tail swish here.

Time is money and reusing one asset instead of say a minimum of three (Human/Elf, Khajiit and Argonian skeleton characters) saves time and money. It also saves system resources by not having to render three types of skeletons at once, the Argonian and Khajiit skeletons would have a higher polygon count because of tails at least and possibly because of facial structure as well.

Agree. Also super annoying to see body height ratio's all look 50/50 rather than a noticeably shorter waist to head ratio and longer waist-to-legs ratio -- should definitely be 40% waist-up and 60% waist down minimally. Very, very odd looking esp on certain species/races etc.

Agree with this, especially in the case of both beast races how the females have breasts that (a) cats don't have in the same form and are in any case elsewhere and (b) lizards don't have at all.

The textures of these races I think are good, however the physical forms are pretty lousy.

Yeah, this happened in Skyrim too. I think it had something to do with it requiring more models to be loaded for the different races which affected performance. Apparently the only things that die are humans.

Funny thing about this is that one quest you encounter an "Argonian skeleton" who looks like every other skeleton in the game. Didn't even have a tail, and I'm sure argonians have bones in their tails.
