I had thought up a little story that you could stick into the timeline. I think it could make a good premise for an Elder Scrolls game. Hopefully not as confusing as Bioshock Infinite as well. Not only could this take place in Tamriel, but also in Akavir for the first time. Men no longer live in Akavir, but they did before all being eaten by the snake-like Tsaesci.
My story:
During the first invasion of Tamriel by the Akaviri nation of Tsaesci in 1E 2703, a traveling priest by the name of Filnus Lornril recorded his year of adventures with an unknown hero he met who was "...bound with the power of an Elder Scroll." The text also reads of the hero's testaments and that the hero was on an "...infinite quest across time to ensure the safety of Nirn herself." The time-traveler was currently here to ensure that Reman Cyrodiil, the father of the Imperial province of Cyrodill, as well as the hero of the Akaviri Trouble of 1E 2703, would succeed in his efforts of pushing the Tsaesci back and for the first time in the history of Tamriel, institute the rites of becoming Emperor.
Imperial scholars say various scrolls from the First Era that were have said to possibly once contain the words of witnesses to the hero's acts were later found bare. They also debate whether or not knowledge of the hero's achievements, which could have taken place as early as the Merethic Era, had also been erased from history by the hero himself. The only knowledge that remains is the research of previous scholars and the scrolls of Filnus Lornil, that also no longer contain the hero's name and origin. Although there are multiple legends and theories on the hero's origin and current whereabouts, they all agree that the hero has had "...one of the most significant as well as unknown impacts on the mortal plane as we know it."
Filnus Lornil's year long adventure ends in his writings end after the hero praises their friendship, give one last good bye, and for the first time reveals the scroll to Filnus and uses its power in his presence. Filnus never saw the hero again, but he understood the consequences of such power, and did not mourn the loss of his friend. He spread the legend of the time-traveler throughout Tamriel until his death in 1E 2733.
Research suggests that the traveler has become a permanent assistant to the divines, and infinitely travels through time, ensuring the safety of Nirn from the shadows.
