Need clarification on a horse mechanic

Horses have 3 speeds: standard run, gallop when you hold down shift, and sprint when you tap sprint.

What I'm not clear on is how long does the sprint last after you tap the sprint key? Is it one of those things where you need to rapidly tap it over and over or do you get a few seconds of increased speed so you only have to hit it once every 2-3 seconds?

it depend on how much you have in stam on horse for after 20 hour you feed yours horse so you get other better speed, stam or bag space on char.

Hit shift once and hold it down. This will be a sustained sprint even when you run out of stamina. It will not be as fast as when you have stamina, but it is faster then the regular horse speed.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the way horses work. I know you can hold down shift, even after they run out of stamina, for a speed boost. Someone told me when you just tap shift you get an even faster speed boost. So if you keep tapping shift you're horse will run extremely fast until they run out of stamina, then you can either wait for it to fill back up or hold shift down for the slightly slower speed increase.

What I'm wondering is how long the speed burst when you just tap shift lasts.

I got the windows sticky keys thing when sprinting it

The tap is for a Gallup. It's a way to provide a VERY quick speed boost but at a massive Stamina cost. You can usually only Gallup a few times on a Horse before burning out it's Stamina but it provides a few seconds each time of a faster than sprint speed boost. The trickier part is to Gallup 1-2 times then transition into sprint mode to catch an opponent.

I played around with it, but I can't tell the difference between the animations for the sprint (tapping shift) and regular running. I'm assuming it's just a few seconds, but I was hoping someone would exactly how long the sprint lasts.
