Please add an option to remove Magelight shining orb

Hello,
First of all - thank you for the best MMO so far (imho).
Second, please add an option to remove the shining orb that circulate you when activating Magelight and its morphs.
It really spoils the sense of entering a murky, dark cave and really annoys me to be honest.

For PvP reasons, the character still glows (just as it shows at the moment) which should be kept but please add an option to remove the orb.

For all who agree, post a "hurray"/"agree"/"amen" or whatever suits you.

I love that ball of light... It helps me know when its not on (zoned or randomly turns off)... If anything fix the glow my restro staff gets in PVP that is as bright as the sun!

This magelight has always confused me. When I use it, I always see an orb, but on others, I see some with an orb and some don't have it. I've morphed it already, so I don't know some are disabling the orb. I thought others just didn't your orb, only you, but I do see it some others. Maybe it's pre morph.

I also don't really get the purpose of it, other than looking pretty badass. I've never had an issue seeing enemies.

But ya, if they could remove the orb, that would be good...or a least the option to.

I think you can see the orb if the other character is either in your party or otherwise in the same phase as you. I've also noticed that you sometime can see them, but would say that it is mostly party members' that's visible.

And also; yes - as Magelight the main purpose is to lighten up your surrounding and cloaked enemies. But I would bet my head that all players who's morphed it to Inner Light does not use it as a flashlight, but as a +20% Crit Chance buff. So, that's my reason for giving an option to remove it. However, keep the char shining blue'ish for PvP reasons. Just get rid of the damn orb :)

Oh, yes. For the love of the Eight, PLEASE get rid of the damn thing! It's floating there all the time, bright, shiny, annoying...I HATE it! And I hate even more that I can't really get rid of it because, well, +20% crit>.< Invalueable and irreplaceable.

Seriously though, no one would suffer from an optional "off" switch, but I bet some of us would be pretty happy.

So you are telling me to remove the thing that gives other PvP player the notice that they can be detected and get 20% crit because you don't like its look? The orb is that big to be easily stoppable which I think is fair considering its passives. If the char would only glow blue it would be hard to see from the distance during day time.

I know it can be distracting but the advantage definitely outweighs the disadvantage on this one.

    • The retina-burning orb from Inner Light gives me a headache after long play sessions and discourages me from even logging in on my main.

That should be enough reason right there for ZOS to simply remove the orb from the game. Leave everything else the same but remove the headache-inducing blindingly bright orb.

Maybe make the orb's light dimmer then. I do think the orb should stay for recognition in PvP though.

Agree, agree, agree. If it has to, the ball itself can stay, I just want a toggle so I can't see it anymore. Turning the brightness down would be nice, but that doesn't change that the movement itself makes me nauseous.

No part of the name of the spell "Mage Light" implies that it must be an obnoxious orb that rotates around your character.

I remember it in Skyrim. Trying to remember Oblivion, but it has been so long.

Aw, booooo. If the animation has to stay for lore reasons, then fine, but I would still really like to be able to turn it off of my end. Any skill that makes people ill when they use it is a poor design, IMO. :/

I think it was introduced in Skyrim. I remember in Oblivion, the spell had a radius, but I don't remember an orb.

Well hey! Skyrim takes place after Oblivion, and this takes place before Oblivion. Therefore, if Mage Light didn't have an orb in Oblivion, then there should not be an orb in ESO because the orb hadn't been developed for the spell yet!

A lot of the armors and other features in the game didn't exist in Oblivion either, including the spell bar while using weapons, so I don't think that argument will hold very well.

would it be better if it made your crotch shine? should it be on top of your head? might make it hard to see. fixed behind you, so that your body blocks it for 30 degrees? maybe cast it forward and it sticks to what it hits, but then you gotta recast it constantly?

This seem to have some polarized opinion surrounding it.
Well, my suggestion would be (as I've read all replies and can relate to both + & -), keep the orb visible to other players, but give the caster an option to turn it off. In this way your +20% Crit Chance would be visible in PvP but when you're off adventuring by yourself or in group-PvE, you could tell that the passive is running as you glow blue and the slot in you skill bar is also highlighted. There's no reason for me to "tell" all the mobs that I've boosted my crit.

So, an option to remove it for the player him-/herself, but that would'nt affect visibility for other players.

I can remember the disappointment when I tried both morphs. Neither got rid of the orb. Then I realized that you just can't see the orb on other players.

Give us a toggle button, please.
