I thought a great idea would be a fishing contest. My guild has them and we love it. The way I do it is as such:
I get some bait to pick from (worms, bugs, crawlers, guts. and you can also use bait you catch), and scout out some nice spots to fish (you will need more than one).
Then we each choose the type to fish with and head to a fishing hole.
We fish 'til we are all out of bait, and most points wins.
Used Bait= 1/2pt., White Fish= 1 pt., Rare Fish= 2 pts.
Most points wins a prize.
Ties (obivously) result in a tiebreaker, where each person gets more bait and they fish some more.
Also, do this to make it more fun. Don't let them know the kind of fishing hole, tell them the region and they can pick their bait based on that, since most regions have similar places. Makes things much more interesting.

Yeah, I know which bait to use most of the time, but others don't. And you can't get rare fish to stay, it's automatically consumed and you get credit for the achievement. To know if a person's caught a rare fish, they would link it in group chat before they looted it to get around that little problem.

They have to link it in chat.
I have done lots of fishing contests in SWG and i always found it very fun to do. Rewards were handed out from money to items donated by guilds. We even had DEVS handing out rewards one time.
But overall it is fun because you socialize with other people. No reward can beat that.٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

✭✭✭Put a date on it. I know in SWG after some fishing update the caught fish got a time and date stamp on it when inspecting. You could not link something in chat in SWG, but you had to give the fish to the player who was judge. The fish had the name on it who caught it and when.
So we need a date/time stamp on them then.٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

kitsinni✭✭✭✭✭It's a cool idea but without a group of people who you trust there is no way to know if they already had fish in their inventory or not.
I think there is an addon which lets you see what other people looted, if you had a "tournament director" that kept track with an addon like that it might work though.0 -

Moyria✭✭We recently did our first PvF event in our guild. It was awesome fun and a great distraction. We have a pretty talented and creative GL so we have an achievement system on our guild web site which is a nice added incentive for people to want to stay involved and it's fun to be competitive!
Here was our tournament:
Moyria has been working hard to organizing a guild fishing event that is open to all members to participate! This event will put you against your fellow guildmates as we empty out fishing holes across Tamriel to find who the best Guild Angler really is!
There will be TWO achievements for this guild event with In-game prizes also being awarded!
First Place: “Absolutely Worthless” for the person who attains the most Blue Fish. This is a 100 point achievement and worth 20k gold.
Second Place: “Stay Moist” for the person that catches the most Wet Gunny Sacks. This is a 50 point achievement and also nabs you 10k gold.
This will be a timed event, 5 minutes per fishing hole. Once the five minutes has expired, we will move as a group from one hole to another. Your task is simple, fish, and announce in guild chat when you catch a blue fish or a Gunny Sack. When or if we have one of each OR we have reached the 5 minute timer, we will all walk away from the current fishing hole and move on to the next.
Each participate is required to supply their own bait, so be sure to gather before and make sure you have a little of everything! So grab your rod and reel, and get ready for some hardcore PvF!
