MMO Mouse question

I happened into a $100 credit from Best Buy so I figured I'd give a Naga MMO mouse a try. Never really thought about needing one but it would be nice for weapon swap and a few other skills to map to the mouse. Is there a way to map Nos 1-6 in the game of the mouse that don't overwrite nos 1-6 above your keyboard. Like when you map numbers on the 10 key it maps "num pad 1" and doesn't overwrite the 1 above QWERTY.

You should just be able to go into the Controls setting in ESO. Click on whatever you want to bind then press the mouse button and bind that sucker.

Or do you mean have it on both? Cause I don't think you can do that.

I use a Razer Naga Hex, the six buttons for your thumb are mapped by default to your 1 to 6 keys on the keyboard.

I use 1 to 5 for skills and mapped weapon sheath to number 6

I would imagine the other Naga mouse/mice/mooses work in similar fashion.

Key bindings IS what separates noobs from good players. Personally, I am VERY disappointed I cannot use "modifiers" (like shift + left mouse button) to map out my skills.

I personally like trackball mice as I'm just very good with em. Sadly, they do not make any MMO mice that are trackball.
To make ESO look and feel like a PC MMO check out the following:

I have the Razer Naga Hex (it's got the 1-6 buttons by the thumb). It's a fantastic mouse, and works great for ESO. You'll get a software program with the mouse that will allow to to reconfigure those 1-6 buttons to whatever you want, so it won't overwrite the 1-6 at the top of your keyboard if that's what you'd like. Then you can go into ESO and map your new buttons to whatever actions you choose.

The great flexibility with the Razer software is that you can load up different configuration profiles for each game, so if there's another game that you'd like the 1-6 buttons to actually BE 1-6, you can do it pretty darn easily.

Frankly, after using this mouse for some time, I simply can not go back to a non-gaming mouse.

    Enjoy!

No if I bind 1 on the mouse it also overwrites the QWERTY 1 unlike if you bind 1 on the Numpad. If you do that it doesn't overwrite the QWERTY 1 it creates a unique binding for it called "Num 1" or something. I was hoping binding the mouse 1 would create a unique binding called "Mouse 1" or something therefore creating more options.

I rebind in every game I play. It's essential. ESO's rebinding could be better.

So could you in the Razer program rebind them to Num pad 1-6? That would be awesome. I went with the 12 button one mainly b/c I wanted cordless

The hex might be a better option for ESO. I have a naga and was never really able to come to grips with 12 small buttons.

I became somewhat proficient with it while playing SWTOR, because it's almost required for juggernaut pvp, but I'm sure Ive lost whatever skill I had with it.

Yeah that's why I wanted 1-6 to be something other than 1-6 above QWERTY b/c frankly I have no problem with those. I was mostly interested in binding potion slug, roll dodge, weapon swap. Makes sense to put those in the most prominent buttons and save 8 or whatever for sheath weapon (something not needed in a hurry).

You might be able to, I'm away from the PC at the mo (iPad) so can't check, if you go to the Razer website you may be able to find out.

I do like that mouse though, feels perfect for this game.

    Edit to add:

Went for the Hex rather than the 12 button ones as I have rather big hands with tree trunk fingers and thumbs, on the 12 button mouse I just two buttons at once.

Love my Naga Hex. Bought it specifically for ESO and have not had a single regret. It works really well for other MMOs because, honestly, how many of them really require mashing more than a couple buttons?
Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

I got myself a Logitech G600 a couple of weeks ago; it's a Naga clone, with the 12 button set up, but about $30 cheaper. Most of them I don't use, and haven't even downloaded the software to make a couple of buttons actually work (the big one on the right side, and one on top). Wasn't sure if it would work for me, but I guess my thumb is just small enough, and the mouse big enough, to deal with it, though sometimes I do still double-mash.

It's so nice having one hand free for little more than movement (I have my Ultimate, potions, shealth and roll-dodge convenient to my left hand, though) while I steer and attack with the right. Worth the money, no matter what brand you get.

I have used various "MMO" mice and I have to say... They suck. Its the exact same thing "gaming" keyboards. The more fancypants features they have, the worse they generally are.

All the entire-darn-keyboards on the side mice are bad IMO. The only "MMO" mouse I have used that's come close to being actually comfortable is the Steelseries WoW Cataclysm mouse. But it doesnt quite live up to Steelseries quality (not entirely unexpected, lets face it its called WoW Cataclysm). But even on that mouse I found out that I'm only ever using two buttons, lol. And I'd rather have 2 big and comfortable buttons I can rest on than 9 awkward buttons.

But whatever, people will probably call me an MMO noob because they use two Razer orbweavers for their feet and a Naga in each hand. Pfff, who even need a keyboard.

I dunno. The blackwidow ulitmate keyboard is pretty nice :D

I disagree. I played ESO for a while with a regular mouse, but switched to G600 and I don't regret it one bit. Of course I don't use all 12 side buttons, ESO isn't complex enough to need them, but it's so much more convenient to have all skills, roll dodge, weapon swap on the mouse. Default key bindings felt awkward, I wouldn't want to go back.

The other thing that the Hex is good for if your a melee character is that it means you can keep your paws on WASD and circle your enemy while slashing.

Really good with a dual wield Nightblade, Teleport Strike from stealth, Siphon and then stay close and circle while mixing it up with Ransack and light attack.

Walking away from a solo'd world boss at full health with an NB is rather grin inspiring :)

    The new with backlighting?

Ugh, dont even get me started on how *** that little concept is... I had a Razer Lycosa and literally *wore through* the caps in a few months. Entire WASD was a big blob of radioactive green. And I couldnt turn it off either, because the touchpanel controls broke.

Granted, Blackwidow uses their cherry clone "green" (ie blue) keys so at least that's a pro. I think. I mean its... ugh... blues... Why do people even like blue? Do they have girly fingers that cant handle the awesome of black? Do they need the crutch of a "click" instead of using linear awesomeness? Bah, weaklings.

The good MMOs do... thus the measly 6 button mouse you have should be overkill for ESO.

It took me a while to get used to using my G600 with this game, but boy does it make a difference now. I have 15 abilities bound.
    Skills 1-5
    Ultimate
    Quick slot
    Weapon draw
    Interrupt
    Synergies
    Sprint
    Dodge
    Stealth
    Mount
    Weapon swap

I'm not even Sure there is anything left to bind, I have a spare button and then I could use my modified button to almost double it. It's great :)

I had 28 abilities bound to it in SWTOR.

On the bottom of your mouse is a small button that switches the side buttons from the above-the-letters numbers to the number pad numbers. You can switch to that and then rebind them to whatever you want.

Being a complete and total MMO noob, I got a Red Dragon MMO gaming mouse. It has the 12 side buttons, and I love it. I primarily use the 1-6 for fights, and 7-12 for low intensity needs.

Would you be considered an MMO noob for your choice in peripherals? Heck no. It's all about whatever you like to use best!

The Naga Hex has been a good choice for me. Six abilities on ESO's hotbar? Six buttons by my thumb. Works great for me. Prior to getting the Naga Hex, I was always one of those dreaded "clickers". I've got multiple sclerosis, so sometimes my hands don't have the manual dexterity for keybinds as my hands and fingers go numb quite often, and I just become a fat-fingered mess.

I've been PC gaming since I got my Commodore PET computer, and the choices and options we have nowadays would blow my old tape drive away!

    Load "*.*",8,1 FTW

It's a great time to be a gamer.

Yes, I was a clicker in WoW, just because there were too many abilities, and I wasn't sure what secondary bar bound with/meant what. It seemed like I'd have to bind my whole keyboard all over again, which would have been like learning typing all over again; I started with a manual typewriter as a small child, I don't want to go through THAT all over again. Also, the one-second GBC is TOO SLOW for a lifelong typist - bar-clicking my abilities slowed me down to one click per second.

ESO makes me move and think more than click, and you can't click too fast here, either, because of the animations slowing you down. Having a G600 has been a great speed modifier - not too fast, not too slow or conflicting with need for movement.

The sad thing about WoW is this - I learned LFR mechanics. I found that the most interesting thing about raids, was the boss choreography. So I move when I need to move, but not all of my toons can attack while moving. So I get kicked for low DPS because I was obeying mechanics. Can't win.

I use a Naga Molten and love it .... Plus LED lights that light up the logo and wheel matche the keyboard back light on my laptop. :)

It has 12 buttons on the side that are mapped by default for 1-=. You can flip a switch on the bottom that makes it use the num-pad instead of the numbers across the top. You can also use the software it comes with to manually map the buttons to whatever you want...

I ended up mapping a couple to home and end so when I'm surfing the web I can hit them to go to the top or bottom of the website. :)
