Three skills points for a tomato, doesn't sound like a good investment to me.
If provisioning hirelings delivered purple and good tempers, I'd have them.fromtesonlineb16_ESO wrote: »Given you only need to spend 3 points I always unlock them as soon as I can, even if I only get a handful of purple and gold tempers it's worth it to me.

My experience is that they give mats at the highest tier you have unlocked.
For example, my smith was parked a long time with only up to Ebony unlocked and that's what he got. I unlocked the Calcimium tier and lo and behold he started to get that. I unlocked all 9 tiers and now he gets 5 Voidstone a delivery.
Same happened on my clothier and woodworker.
I can definitely say the level of the mats is NOT related to character level, only mats from deconning seems tied to that.

You completely missed the point and the joke.
This topic is about *PROVISIONING* and whether *PROVISIONING HIRELINGS* are worth it.
Are oats and tomatoes equivalent to the golds received from other craft hirelings? I seriously doubt it. Especially with the completely *** mechanic of logging in twice a day for your 3 skill point investment.
Seems like an incentive to create a script to log your characters in every now and then when you are doing stuff like I don't know, sleeping and working.
PS: The materials you get from decon is based on the item you decon. Decon an ebony sword and you get ebony. Decon a calcinium sword and you get calcinium.

It all depends on how many extra points you have and your goals. I've sold tomatoes and oats for 1k gold each. You just need to decide if occasionally getting high value mats is worth the skill points.
