Because she failed in her duty by bugging out and standing idle when he fought her doppelganger?
The choice doesn't matter the least for gameplay, but I do think that Lyris and Sai deserve a happy ending of sorts, and that Abnur is actually to blame for the entire Planemeld crisis because of his lust for power and desire to become Dragonborn by artificial means.
But if this heartless person wanted Lyris to die, who are we to judge?
