crafting levelling question

Hello all,

Sorry if this seems a daft question, but I would like to use one of my alts (currently lvld 19), as purely a crafting alt, maybe respecd so I can put more skill points into the crafting tree.

My question is, is it possible to level up crafting alone way beyond the player level, so that I am able to use this Alt to craft for my lvl44 NB?

Thanks for any comments

I forget how many SPs it takes to cap a craft, but on several characters I've collected all the open-world Skyshards when they were no higher than 10: that means 5 x 9 = 45 /3 = 15 SPs even at level 2, so by the time you get to 10 you have another 9 at least.

You'll not get a totally capped crafter but you'll have the SPs to cap their skill and some passives, as long as you can feed them enough deconn material.

There seems to be only one aspect of crafting that's PC level dependent: I found deconning Tier 5 mats (eg. Ebony ore) on a PC level mid-20s yielded no ingots, just gems and maybe a Temper (and Inspiration of course). It wasn't till he was mid-30s or so that he began to get actual ingots.

Ah right, ok, that's an informative answer, many thanks. I will probably be using a combination of decon, some farming, and hirelings, I'm guessing that the hirelings will send mats according to your crafting level, and not your overall character level?

The only problem is that even with maxed skill a low level crafting alt can't get actual resources like used wood, metal, etc. from decons, only racial and trait mats and enhancers.

And yes, hirelings send mats based on crafting level.

My woodcrafter alt is level 8 and my clothier alt is level 10. Both are rank 50 in their respective crafts and make gear for my VR 12 toon. So, to answer the original question, yes. You can easily level up crafting only alts... just give them stuff to decon that your main toon finds.
V14 Templar Argonian Healer, V12 DK Orc Tank, V2 Sorcerer High Elf DPS, V1 Templar Breton DPS, V1 Nightblade Bosmer DPS, and 3 low levels.

You can hit level 50 in any profession on any level of character. However, it REALLY helps if you already have a higher level character (or friends/Guildees) with access to farm areas for materials that are beyond your capability, like VR. Of course the other option is just buying the materials if you're good at making gold.

and by the way it's enought to have 40 lev in craft to make any vr12 items and have all usefull perks.
