VR1 & VR5 Epic Grade Recipes.....Where? :-(

Where do these drop at? Been playing since early release and all I have found was 2 lvl35 epic recipes before they took the nuclear nerf cannon to them. Now I dont find them at all thanks to the damn nerf. And the big question is where the VR epic recipes are at?

Thanks for the help guys/gals.

I was told the VR purple recipes drop in group public dungeons and VR dungeons. I have yet to see any other than the ones sold in zone chat for millions.

    Cheers!

I would say if you are just a casual player - forget that they exist. If you are a player who invests a lot of free time to ESO then you have two options ( realistically only one but I will mention both ) -

    1) log in and out in any V5-V10 area and hope that after millions of opened containers you find one ( ridiculous but a chance nevertheless )

    2) gather a lot of gold ( ranging from 500k to 2 millions ) and buy it from another player

I have found a v5 purple in a furniture. They exist but are just rare.

Cool, ty guys. Nice to hear that they do actually drop from furniture cuz doing a public dungeon in a VR zone is almost imposable cuz there aint nobody around. And I think it will stay that way until they fix those zones. I stopped leveling on my NB at VR5 cuz the mobs are just flat out OP. Now leveling a Templar and I think I will do much better with that.

I found my Purple VR5 recipe in the bookshelf behind the Bank in Vulkel Guard (level 5 zone). They can drop anywhere.

With the nerf on barrels/ back packs/ drawers and other breakables/ searchable items, also came the nerf in the epic recipes and better motifs. It went from being an insane amount of drops simply by loot/relog to almost nothing. There is no in between for zos, it is only 1 extreme or the other. Too much or nothing. It says plenty about the lazy coding that you simply flip 1 switch and either loot exists or it doesn't. It does say it wasn't well spread out in the "random" fashion players would have expected.

Could you clarify something for me? Vulkel Guard is level 5 zone for your faction (not veteran level) or is it a VR5 zone (meaning the final zone for your first veteran faction)?

@Erock23 It's the very first town they dump you in in Auridon after the tutorial. I'm AD so it's only a level 5-20 zone. Not a VR zone.

The recipes can drop from any cabinet in any zone and be of any level.

    Are you sure?

I recommend not wasting even a second thinking about it. The drop rate is now so low as to make finding one a truly epic piece of luck. But hey, have to discourage those bots somehow, right? Right?

This is interesting because I thought recipe drops leveled with the zone, but I guess they level with your character. Very good to know.

They really need more mid level or mid/rare type stuff. I like the fact there are super rare items but there's just nothing in between it seems. Just not worth checking containers anymore.

@Erock23 Yeah, I never noticed it until I saw the purple drop. I believe Provisioning follows a similar rule. I could have sworn I recieved some Honey Comb in Auridon as well (VR1-5 crafting Mat).

How long ago did you find the purple recipe? There was an issue at launch where VR5 recipes were dropping in the starter zones, but it was patched out.

@Vuron Found it last Thursday. My provisioning was only at 8 so I took the weekend and got myself to 50.

I think that I want to beat you. This is really the only thing that I want to find in the entire game. I've probably found close to 40 Daedric and Ancient Elf motifs looking for it.

It's pretty sad that I get about half pissed when I find a motif, now.

I got so excited after the last patch when I saw that I had looted a purple from a cabinet. Then, I realized that they changed the colors of the motifs in the patch and almost cried.

@Vuron Yeah. It was nothing but pure luck. Hopefully this will help people find it as well. Who knows. Maybe looking for it in a non-VR zone may be the key. If it's an RNG thing and it you "roll" a purple item. There is no chance of a purple motif in the 1-50 zone. Just thinking outloud. I dont know if there is any truth to it.

They can drop anywhere as long as YOU are high enough level. I found my purple VR5 drink recipe in a chest in the bank in Rawl'kha (Reaper's March, and I'm AD so it's a non-vet zone).

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

Yeah, I found 2 epic grade lvl 35 recipes in the starter zone not long after the game was released. But now they have gimped the drop rates on them so much, good fricken luck ever finding one! Not even really interested in motifs. Would give my left test???? for a VR5 food recipe!

I got a V5 Food purple from Lady Lauren'ts camp (VR1 for me) on Glenumbria. Finished the dungeon last Wednesday and she is standing under a tent with a chest behind her. Opened it up before handing in the crown and wham. purple food.

My Temp made it to VR12 (all delves, pub dungeons and dolmens) and never got anything better than a blue.

yea at vr12 I have yet to see a purple. Got all the level equiv blues though, so it's not that big of a deal.
