~+~ Skill Tweaked, Time to spend 25K ~+~

Dear Zenimax,

How do you judge whether or not we should get a "free restart" of a skill after you change it? I've seen a couple instances where this happened and I thought it was smart. It was a perfect and simple way to keep people from being mad. If players want to keep the skill as it is they simply morph the skill like they had it before the tweak. If not, they can easily change the morph without spending 25K for a re-spec.

Unfortunately, the "free restart" does not happen with all skills that get changed. Why are you forcing us to throw away 25K for a re-spec when you drastically change a skill? I could understand if it was a small tweak that didn't really effect much, but your changes for the sake of "balancing" are huge. The most recent example I have to waste 25K on is the change to lava whip. The change IMO made molten whip pointless and flame lash the clear winner for my play style.

I thought they DID give me gold to pay for my re-spec, then I worked out it was just for a nice rank in PVP when we won the campaign. But it paid for the re-spec.

Did you get a good pay out from the PVP campaigns? Most got 5k to 40k

Exactly my point. Lava whip was my example, but there are plenty of skills that got changed and the players should have been given the choice to change it for free if they wanted to.

I got 27K for my PvP campaign, but I should not have to spend almost my entire campaign reward to re-spec my character due to a change to one skill.

I hear you, mate. I would also wish that sometime we would get free respecs when skills get changed. Previous MMO I've played was LoTRO and when the game had some major changes all points would just be reset. Maybe ZOS will start doing it sometime but I wouldn't hold my breath.

And as for the flame lash - I've been using it for ages because it fits my playstyle. I liked it back then and I like it even more now. Frankly speaking if it really was a clear winner for your playstyle you'd have it already and now it seems like you're just a min/max player who's jumping on an opportunity to get a better skill and you also want to get it for free. So in this regard I have very little compassion for you, sorry bro.

    @pavelcherepanskyrwb17_ESO‌

No, for my play style molten whip was the clear winner because I use all fire damage spells. Molten whip used to boost all of these attacks for me, but now it only boosts the whip itself because I don't have any other ardent flame abilities on my bar. Because of that, flame lash is the clear winner now.

Please don't judge me before you know the story. It is a bad habbit and can make you look foolish.

Please Zenimax respond with an answer. I am not here to flame you. I just want to know why some skills get a free re-spec and some don't after you change them. What was the reasoning behind not offering a free re-spec for some skill tweaks?

They should definitely give back skill points everytime ANY change to a skill is made. Let people decide if they want to rebuy it or not, even if it's a weird change you didn't think would bother anyone. This includes the recent CC break which would have me picking different morphs of several skills that are now not as useful (I would also say, if you are going to let NPCs break CC, then you should track their stamina same as their health).

Meh...They probably don't answer because they don't have a good answer. IMO there is no good answer for not giving us a free re-spec in a skill that they tweak. I would love to know the reasoning behind offering it for some skills, but not others but who knows... it was probably just a mistake by one of the employees to actually give us something that made sense...

Type /feedback in-game if you want your voice to be heard. Forums are for the players mostly. Expecting a response here is only going to disappoint you.

I agree, if you completely change a skill, it would be nice to get the skillpoints in it back. Or just give us a free respec, or the very least let us respec skills one by one. This would be the best way in my opinion.

I agree that /feedback is the best way to reach the devs, but it does not give you the feeling you are heard at all. You will never get a response since it is a one way street. You talk to them, they will not respond...ever. It's just the way it is set up.

When you get a response on the forum then suddenly everyone with the same issue knows they are being heard while with /feedback no matter how many use it and ask the same question, you only get to feel it if, and only if they ever add it to a patch and even then it could be just coincidence.

They can just as easily ignore you completely which in most cases they will do since they can't listen to everyone and still make a good game, it is impossible to please everyone.

So if you want to feel that they are listening to you /feedback is the worst way to go, if you want to get actual changes it might be the best way, but I say "might" since it's transparency is by it's very nature nonexistent. I can say I read the entire forum every day, you can believe it or not, but neither of us can prove it to be true or false. It is the same with /feedback.

Expecting a response on the forums is reasonable since it is set up as a two way street, expecting it from a /feedback is truly futile since it acts like a sponge. They absorb our feedback and do what they like with it with no transparency whatsoever.

We all know the communication is terrible.

Lava whip is a perfect example of a case where people should have been refunded. Puncturing strikes, too. There have less significant changes made were people had their skill points refunded.

Have to disagree about Puncturing Strikes. I'm never above a free respec but lets face it.. 99% of the game was using Biting Jabs and nobody wants a free respec because changes were made to their existing ability. They wanted a respec because changes were made to the other option which became more appealing to their current option.

So IMO Flame Lash deserved a free respec. The changes to Puncturing Sweep really didnt (unless you were morphed into PS, and lets face it... nobody was).
  • crislevin

    wut?

biting jabs was better before, so most people morphed into it.

now they changed puncturing sweep to be at least as good, or even better than biting jabs, this change invalidated the previous choice for many people, who did their research and made the best choice at the time.

why does it not deserve a respec?

IMO any skill that has a material change should refund skill points for that skill so the player can have a free do-over.
