Tattoos Colors and Glass Armor?

So I made my character back during early access and there was this awesome dragon tattoo that rolls across his chest. I figured I'd take that because I have a smaller, but similar tattoo on my shoulder and what is a roleplaying game but being you only better.

I settle on my tattoo and look for the slider or buttons or whatever to change the color aaaaaaaaand....

Nothing.

It's black or black or black and that's all she wrote. Okay, I can deal with that black line and fill work is a standard, but colored tattoos have been around for centuries and it would only take about 20 minutes to go in with any imaging software and 'fill' the current monotone tattoos with a variety of colors. Okay, setting the slider / buttons to change your ink in the character creator would take longer, but it could be done relatively quickly.

Moving right along.

Then I got into the game and I'm running around and I'm wearing my armor a few months later now I realize I'm loving this but I can't see my ink! I spent well over an hour building my face and body and testing what looks good and what doesn't and I can't see one of my most distinguishing features unless I take my chest piece off. That looks silly because I'm still wearing shoulders and gloves, not to mention the hat.

Then I remember playing through Oblivion and (though it was modded heavily) there being GLASS armor. A light set of full armor that would allow you to see the body under it in all it's tattooed glory.

We spent all that time on our characters and they give us the option of all these accessories to gives us the individuality for our characters and at best we see their face.

Would be interesting to see a variation of glass armor. Not solid glass, but patched areas on the chest, legs, helm, etc. would be a nice concept ^^

In Oblivion and Morrowind the whole suit was glass. It kind of looked like plate armor, only instead of steel it was a bottle green shiny (like water reflections) glass. I had modded my game to get clear glass and it looked 1000 times better than the green.

A patchwork glass armor like you describe would be very kool as a High end Light Armor in ESO while the suits like I describe above would make for excellent Medium Armor, I think.

This is a very old issue in MMOs and even some RPG games, that does not seem to go away. You make fantastic point, that I have said for years now myself.

This game goes a bit better than mopst in that regard. I have some toons with tattoos that can be seen in gaps on armour, or where sleeves are broken/missing.

It is also, why I am strongly opposed to the genric epic gear disease that plagues many MMOs. I desire to make a unique and appealing avatar in the game. Some games do very well giving you this option, only to take it away by offering the same gear covering your body as everyone else, as your dungeon reward or whatever.

SWTOR addressed this a little, by allowing you take take the gear stats in parts, and slot them in other gear you preferred.. if you could find some. But, it made you pay through the nose in game currency for it.

This is a huge part of the reason I'd love to see glass armor out in the game. It's actually in the Lore and it's not game breaking, it's just armor. You could craft it like any other armor in the game.

And it would be a really good commodity. How many people would want glass armor just to see their character's ink, etc.?

I was just thinking that now that there is a 'jack' for light armor this idea of glass plates / composite for that armor would be even better, because it IS more like a real armor instead of a robe/tunic.

There's a trasparent armor in the Lore, sure.

Your tattoo colour is kinda funny, I dunno if it's just set per race? On my imperial my tats are black, but on my high elf they're gold.

Glass armor in TES is based on volcanic glass. That's why it's always green and not transparent.

Having said that, I agree with the OP that more appearance customizations would be nice, and that it would be nice to have customizations like tats more visible. It may be difficult for the devs to manage, especially on a "megaserver," since the more customization options a character has, the more data has to upload \ download between the server and individual clients for every character playing. Highly customizable character options could become a bandwidth issue. It's something I'm sure the devs are working on and balancing out, any game developer knows that character customization is very important in modern games.

Yes, yes, my friend! Now picture all that as clear glass and that's the mod I was running. It was GLORIOUS!

My Breton, Imperial, and Dunmer have black tattoos.
If your Altmer has gold tattoos they obviously thought different colors was a good idea somewhere along the line =D
I'm just suggesting they make it possible to set your ink as those different colors.

Though volcanic glass (obsidian) as far as I know is always black.
