8 minutes and counting to load character selection screen

all day i have to just click play, go fix lunch, maybe complete a 1000 piece puzzle to bide the time for character screen to load. Are any of you also having this problem?
I click play..get loading screen with a moving spinning elder wheel. 10 minutes later still loading screen. I closed the program several times this morning and tried again..only to go through the same process. So i waited, 11 minutes later i have character selection. Tonight, im at 10 minutes...yes it took 2 minutes to type thus far and to check if i was indeed still stuck in loading. Whats the deal? is this happening to everyone?

I have not been on much since the update, but I will test this after work and hopefully provide further feedback.

thx...and your not missing much...the update has had such grand mishaps. At least for my poor computer it has. Invisible mobs taking forever to load,constant load screens EVERYWHERE, stuck on crafting nodes (locked in gather mode until i finally move to break ita nd not getting said craft mat from node). Dont know why im TRYING to even log in lol until SOME of this mayhem is fixed. But, all that doesnt matter about gameplay, i cant even log in lol

It happens to me seemingly every time they do any kind of maintenance or patches, it will take forever to download, then forever to log in after that.

oh i havce logged in three times today, sure it took 15 or so minutes, but i went on the prowl over the internet, BSing and whatnot, reading forums.... and here we go...time to see if game is online yet :drumroll:

closing it out and starting the LENGTHY log in again..we will see if any better.

I logged in once after the patch to see if I wanted to renew. It took about 5 minutes to reach the character selection screen. Prior to the patch it took about 10 seconds.

Well, I logged in. There were 5 people in the bank and 2 at the clothing station. There used to be 50 in the bank and dozens at the clothing station.

Game's dead. Patch broke loading times. A massive increase in loading to the character selection screen combined with having to switch between 5 mule characters every few hours just isn't going to happen.

This for me as well. Every maintenance or patch, or just whenever the servers go off, it's a 10+ minute load screen when I go to log in. Fortunately for me it seems to only do it the first log in, but I know how annoying it is, and can imagine how frustrated I'd be if it happened every time.
