I started this game with 4 other friends that are all long time MMO gamers. Only one of them is still here besides me, and he logs in once per week. 2 of them flat out said that VR combat is too tedious due to difficulty and feels like a grind because of it. The other one won't really say why. He just doesn't play anymore since he hit VR. He played for several hrs per day 1-50

Sometimes you just can't put a finger on what calls you off. SWTOR was like that too. One day you enjoy the game, then you reach end game and you simply struggle to find a reason to log in.

Personally, I think the game lacks flexibility and it strong arms players to do certain things to continue to level. And that includes taking on content that the average player is simply finding too difficult to manage and they get frustrated.

lvling in this game is VERY EASY for who ever wants it!
For people that want to quit for whatever the reason, its their prerogative.
What I hate is when they *** and look for excuse to do so... If you don't feel like playing anymore then just don't!

I can see if the developers stop fixing issues and stop adding new content, but that is not the case here, so STOP looking for excuses just because you want to do something else...

The people that do ***, are the same ones in EVERY GAME that is out there. Its either too hard or too easy.

I have a few friends that have quit, but VR difficulty was not the reason. The game just didn't fit their play style. They didn't like the non-tab target combat, nor the voiced quests and focus on lore.

I must level with you, I don't know anyone. But then, not only has anyone told me, but I never asked. There could be people I have been acquainted with who have left over this, and never discussed it with me, or perhaps other guildies, to my knowledge.

That could be another point. A frequent complaint seems to be monotonous grind. Though, I wonder, beyond difficulty level and slow levelling, what else is different in VR to regular questing in ones originating faction zones? Honest question from someone who has yet to get to VR.

I only gave heavy armor s/s build a brief try around vr3. It worked. Stand in refreshing path, siphoning strikes on, sap essence, veil of blades. I could tank swarms of trash mobs all day.

Wasn't my cup of tea tho. I prefer fast kills/reactive combat to wearing enemies down over time. So back to Medium/DW.

At no point did i feel like i have to go light armor/staff.

@Lodestar‌ the lack of main story and guild storylines becomes incredibly apparent almost immediately. I wish the main story continued all the way to VR10 even if the zone quests were recycled. The zone stories are fun and interesting in their own regard, But variety is the name of the game when it comes to rewarding content.

Its basically all of our complaints (my friends and I) so far, but difficulty hasn't been a problem.

not everyone leaves a game due to one thing, I've known people who are incapable of staying on one game for very long just because they just like trying games, not committing to them. then there are those that really aren't into that specific game. The VR difficulty really isn't that difficult, it's just time consuming (I speak as a soloer on this, I know it would be faster with a group), these days a lot of people want it now and have no patience for the long term.

I've had a few guildmates quit. Not so much because of difficulty, but because of balance. Some mobs or bosses would drop you in 2 or 3 hits, others you could waste in 3 or 4 hits. No rhyme or reason, just randomness.

Many that find it un-fun due to dificulty would never even mention it due to the amount of ridicule they would get. This forum is a perfect example. The people that have has the courage to come here and be honest about it have been met with nothing but insults.

They say nothing or make up another excuse. My friends were honest with me, but there is no way in hell that either of them would come to a place like this and admit it.

Try 7/7 medium, 2-hand sword DK


1, brawler
2, burning embers
3, green dragon blood
4, ingeous shield
5, critical rush
U, standard of might


Charge in with critical rush, brawler for shield and dot on all 3 enemies, put burning embers on all separately (3 heals after a few secs), brawler again to refresh shield. Make sure to block heavy attacks, interrupt casts and roll out of cones. If a mob backs up (like archers/casters do) crit rush him again.

Works for my DK, in VR. Granted, he still is only VR1. But he's not parked because of difficulty, i simply want to focus on my main (the NB) first.

Which is odd because in most the threads about this topic people throw around words like, everyone, most, all, and then claim a only a handful disagree with them. I wouldn't think a handful would be so threatening.

I know people who hit veteran rank 10 and 12 (when 12 were released) via grinding exploitable bosses and now refuse to make an alt due to the sheer amount of grinding required, they also hit rank 12 relatively quickly and so had a chance to level 1-2 more classes. I also know people who have quit due to the grind but plan on coming back in the future when levelling is eventually made easier. That being said I'm sitting on veteran rank 7 with about a level of random grinding and whatnot but I'm now questing until rank 12.. and it's slow. It's not horrific, it's simply slow.

Everyone but one has quit or significantly reduced their play time and Im probably next because Im tired of combat that feels like Im banging my head against a brick wall, solo, because the one person I *want* to do things with is evading the mq and wont level his main because of it.

And keeps making bs excuses for it.

He doesnt want to wipe. Ever. Makes him rage quit. So when he gets his melee templar face forked by the Lyris doppleganger, he logs out and refuses to try again for three weeks.

My DK uses 5/2 H/L, SS/DW

General skills are Pierce Armor, Talons, GDB, burning embers, stonefist, lava whip, molten weapons, rapid strikes, standard or magma (but I want dawnbreaker). Working for me so far through VR, storm atronarchs are rough but I can squeeze by with a standard drop and tenacious blocking/interrupts.
