Map and Cursor Mode

Getting really annoyed with this. I'm not in cursor mode, I press M to pull up my map, then press M to put away the map and now I'm in cursor mode. Every time. If the game forces a player to play in non-cursor mode then the default should be exactly that after leaving any new UI screen i.e. map, inventory, bank ect.
