Just a curious question. I skip through the dialogue.

Only time I don't read it all is when I'm forced to skim through dialog during dungeons.

I read selectively. Some quests are the simple "go there and pick up something for me" which you can easily tell by reading the first few lines. I skip those, and read the ones I personally find more interesting.

If I didn't want to read the dialogue, I probably would choose to play something other than a game where the story is widely considered the best aspect.

I would not have played this game if I wanted to rush through everything and never read the story. Its a TES game, and while yes it is an MMO, I just can't see not reading/listening to the story the first time around. Once you know what is going on, I can certainly understand spamming through things however on an alt.

I did my first group dungeon tonight and they grew impatient with me because I wanted to read/listen to the dialog and they had all done it before.

Perhaps we are hanging around the wrong people.

The majority of quest dialogue I read through, even on Alts. But there is the odd voice or two that grates on me and when I encounter an NPC with these specific voice types I do tend to skip through the dialogue just so I don't have to hear them talk! XD

Or just a nice social guild, I guess. You don't necessarily need people who focus on dungeons, just ones who take it easy and don't mind doing the same dungeon a few times with friends.

Most of the time. Eventually it's the same quest.

(Though I always read the one where the naked & drunk husband of some mean wife runs off to fight a witch with some family heirloom, that one is funny.)

But primarily, there's no reason to read fetch quests.
    NPC: "Go get me this!"
Me: "Sure, I'm just an all-powerful wizard with the highest grasp of arcane magics. I've only defeated a daedric prince to get my soul back. Oh, and never mind that time I helped out a god who couldn't do jack for herself. Yeah, I'll go get you those herbs by the waterfall 15 feet away."

Because, you know, VR10 mudcrabs are very threatening to the locals.

I only like character progress and loot. All the money in world is wasted on me when it comes to story in MMOs. I'm interested in the math and mechanics.

I suppose that's as good of a reason as any. As a matter of fact, try this. It might net you 10 minutes of entertainment. It's not half bad.

I love the storylines and side quests in ESO. I will admit some are a tad boring and sometimes I'm too tired to focus my mind and I will skip some... But the game is so much better when one immerses oneself in the story.

My ONLY complaint is the limited voice actors. Really wish there was more variety as sometimes hearing the same voice over and over breaks the immersion.

I always read NEW quest dialog. If I've done the quest line before, I skip it. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want some of the main quest dialogue's to be skippable for my alts. Yes, I am an alt alholic and some of those early ones make me wanna cry when they have to be repeated.

When leveling in ESO, I was too compelled to push faster and faster for cool or essential abilities. The class system outshines the dialog, so that takes the wheel.

In SWTOR, on the other hand, the class system was pretty standard, so since I wasn't driven so much by that I wanted to listen to the quests more often.

Now that I'm in veteran zones, even though I have all the abilities I want, I still skip quests because I want to get VR12 before my child's tenth birthday (I currently have no children).

Of course I read quest dialogues. Otherwise, why play a TES game(doesn't really feel like TES-game sometimes, though, due to things like classes)?
And I recommend everyone read them, too.
Most of them are really interesting. Sometimes - really funny.
Also, most of them really fit into the world around and you get a better understanding of what's going on in a location, for example.
