Argonian Females

This has probably been said by someone in the past, but I'm almost finished with a Biodiversity course right now and something is bothering me a bit about Argonian Females. Perhaps I'm wrong, but they strike me as humanoid reptiles. If they're reptiles though, they shouldn't have breasts. Mammary glands are something distinctly mammalian. Hence the name mammals. Are the argonians actually mammals and not the reptiles that everyone believes them to be or just some strange form of reptile that has stolen a defining characteristic of another group of organisms?

In my view, they are not breasts. They have no ***, they are just 'fat' stores that are used to store energy required to make the eggs (the Argonian eggs are large). The fat stores just happen to be in the same place as breasts on humaniod mammels :)

From the lore, the Argonian are cold blooded reptile that lay eggs.

Considering they birth via Egg, with help from trees... im pretty sure the only reason Female Argonions have boobs is simply so they have boobs....

Honestly i think its the stupidest thing they have done for the beast races....

by the same concept, Khajit who are based on felines... would have a set of 10 however... and im honestly glad they didnt do that...
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Here I thought it was to maintain buoyancy when idle in deep water. It's exactly where you would want it, right around the center of gravity to maintain balance. They would need it more than the males if they are carrying eggs before laying them without exerting too much excessive energy to maintain afloat.

Honestly, if we base it off some lore, then, an Argonian would have next to no living abilities in most of Skryim's climate, and yet, an Argonian can be the dragonborn... I remember reading somewhere that Argonians were akin to a platypus, a mammal that lays eggs, albeit, a scaly mammal...

Deja vu. It's like reading the official Bethesda forums in 2006, just after Oblivion came out.

Keep in mind that ingesting the Hist sap changes Argonian physiology. They vary in appearance from humanoid to more reptilian. In times of need (like the Oblivion Crisis) they are called back to Black Marsh and enhanced: stronger, faster, capable of fighting external threat. Their "breasts" may be used for storage, like Natjur said, or maybe they're just a way to make them appear more human/mer-like and therefore more acceptable to other races of Tamriel. The His works in mysterious ways.

Or y'know, just developers putting breasts on every female. ;)

Being a fantasy game I find it plaisible that a species could lay eggs like a reptile and then nurse them like a mammal. Personally I dont like the idea all to much which is why my Argonian female is as flat chested as possible with wide hips. modeled after many types of actual reptiles. Most frightening is the book on racial physiogony that mentions Argonian/kajiit hybrids as a possibillity. wouldnt want to see that. Although a Lizard-cat would make a great pet^^

But don't worry, in Tamriel children are always the race of the mother.

She's a Redguard alright. She's just a tad darker than Nord or Breton kids. But still, children in Skyrim are very lackluster. They all look like clones, and there are no kittens. :|

Strangest thing I've encountered in ESO is an NPC Argonian-Dunmer couple. Makes no sense no matter how you look at it. That crap might be tolerated in Blackmarsh but not in Dunmeri culture. Lore breaking for the sake of fictional political correctness?

Can't tell difference between Argonian gender.
History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.
