The Tree-Minder's Fate quest difficulty is insane.

VR3 Templar in Shadowfern. Attempting quest named "The Tree Minder's Fate". The objective is to protect the Argonian spirits, during the ritual.

The NPC attackers come in groups of two, only a few seconds apart. I lost count around 10 NPC attackers. Including ranged mages, that hit for >1100.

This is impossible to solo. I'm not even certain this could be done with only two. This is a basic "Green" weapon reward for zone quest. But, the difficulty is greater than what I see in group dungeons at this VR level.

Did anyone completed this in VR zone? Is there some trick?

Solo'd it as a VR8 Templar. Daggerfall Covenant allied so it's in our..3rd(?) playthrough. Used Volcanic Rune and other AoE abilities as well as some VR5 Spellpower pots, Resto Staff and didn't stand around...

I lucked out and logged in to find a mage type (Cloth and Stave), obviously right at that stage of the quest. I'd been beaten down many times the night before previously trying to accomplish it.

I blew through the NPC dialog and initialized the attack and he fell back and behind providing heavy AoE while I dished out all the DW pain I could generate. I was fast burning them down with about 70% crits and his crucially helpful AoE insured swift work. I kept them off him and recovered some health using siphoning and a triple pot I crafted.

We chatted briefly after, mutually deciding that it was a close thing. I told him I couldn't have survived the prolonged onslaught. He confided he wouldn't have managed if I hadn't tanked and kept the hate. It was a simple random encounter that proved beneficial to us both.
You know, I was once an optimistic gamer just like you. Then I took a patch to the game client from Zenimax.

Good for you. This is part of what an MMO should be about, and I enjoy these encounters myself. I had one yesterday, and it was fun.

However, this is supposed to be at least manageable as a solo quest. VR questing is not supposed to force you to group, and because of the phasing system that often makes it impossible for someone to help out with a quest they have already done, and because of the general lack of players in VR zones, it has been very hard to find other people lately. I am parking my VR character and starting an alt.

Actually questing in VR zones IS supposed to make you group. I have not the feeling there is a lack of people in VR zones to group with. How about guild mates?

@OP I soloed Tree-Minder's Fate at VR3 with an NB. This does not mean I am uber, this means the difficulty is not insane as the topic says.

The VR levels are desolate. I have two VR6's, one in Stonefalls and one in Auridon. There's nobody around particularly in Stonefalls. About the only time they see another player is in the bank and then it's only one or two others. There's no chat and no calls for dolmens or world bosses.

I have no idea how they could fix the VR levels with the population being so low. I have a 3rd alt at L34. Those levels are full of other players

Can you please provide a link where ZOS said that VR zone quests are intended to be group content. I missed the article or forum post that stated that. Also, by chance, do you know an ETA when they will change the name of "solo" dungeons in VR zones to group dungeons?

Source, please. I have seen it stated very clearly by ZOS that the VR zones are meant to be a "challenge for solo play", and that grouping is possible but optional. Players that feel they are not woefully lacking in skill should at least be able to get through most quests solo. From the looks of it, this is currently not the case.

If I could get confirmation that VR zones are no longer intended for solo play, I would stop complaining, and also stop trying to get through them on my own.

Perhaps they hoped for each quest in each area to always have lots of people doing the same things, so that you would never actually be alone even if you didn't group? This is not the case at the moment. I am typically doing everything alone in Stonefalls, meeting other players only occasionally, and when I do they are on a different quest or just staying in one place to farm or grind.

Yes, VR zone quests become easy if you pair up, but forced grouping is not what VR levels were supposed to be about. The general overworld quests are actually group-unfriendly, because the phasing requires every member of a group to have the same set of quests done, and even requires every member individually to make the same choices in some NPC dialogs, or the phasing might break the group even during a quest.

Pair questing in VR is probably fine if you only play with your spouse or best friend, and never venture out alone. I wish I could play like that. However, it becomes a joke if you try to group up with random people or a guild mate, if you happen to find any online who are at your exact level. In the social guilds I am in at the moment, nobody is in my particular zone. For pair questing to work without too much hassle, you basically need to stay glued to one other player for the entirety of a zone.

I ran around this morning in Vr5 The Rift with a bunch of folks questing, doing dolmens etc. In the last 10min I've seen 4 requsts from folks to do dolmens or help with stuff and they were all answered. Desolate is an overstatement.

It is not an overstatement. You just happen to be in the right place at the right time and got lucky in a VR5 zone. There was a day when I was in VR6 Glenumbra and was lucky enough to be on at a time a large pack of people were rolling across the map doing anchors and bosses. I never saw anything like that again in all 10 VR zones. Doesn't mean it never happened again, but one good day doesn't mean the zones aren't desolate either. The higher you get the more empty zones are. Just wait until you get to VR9 and VR10 zones. Right now those upper zones are almost always near empty.

Right now I'm working on a VR1 Glenumbra, and it is decent enough to do some anchors and bosses. Public dungeon is a wait to get people though. If people stay on board there should be more running around upper zones in time... hopefully.

I love those crazy situations here though... you keep being smacked around spending crystal after crystal.. for then suddenly..... you get through it.... time to bring out the big cigar after and do a little jig... but that is just me... I am weird like that... or maybe self masochistic or refusing to give up to AI hehehe

The idea that VR levels is supposed to be grouped for is an out and out myth perpetuated by those that like the difficulty. its an excuse

ZOS official statement says that vet content is meant for solo or duo.

I did finally manage to get past this. Essentially, the same scenario happened with myself. The difference being, I waited there for a bit, until someone else showed up. It happened to be a nuker, as well. We died on our first attempt. And, almost on the second. It didn't help that I bugged out twice, and was unable to use primary attack or skills for nearly 20 seconds, during both attempts.

Overall, this was a very odd and arguably broken encounter.
