With the lack of patch notes prior to deployment and sometimes even after deployment I thought I would provide a proper glimpse of what could be considered a goal Zenicrap should strive for when posting patch notes as well as prior warning to changes.

The following is from eve online the first is their dev blog describing the changes they made to drones but the dev blog came out before the patch and patch notes.

http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/giving-drones-an-assist/

Notice how detailed they are about the changes and why the changes were necessary.

They even address concerns people ay have before screaming and crying occurs.

The following is their patch notes for their recent new content(4 per year with additional supportive patches)

http://community.eveonline.com/news/patch-notes/patch-notes-for-kronos

Notice how they point out the changes?

This should be something zenicrap strives for if they want to be considered decent at their jobs and earn the respect of their players/customers.

Actually, if you check the PTS and the Developer discussion subforum, they've outlined what they're changing pretty well. However, they've been terrible on providing exactly what is going to happen and what isn't going to happen(they leave stuff out, and add stuff that was never posted anywhere) and they've been terrible about giving players a heads up on when it's happening or if it's even happening.

It'd be nice if they consolidated it, but yeah.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

Um, Eve Online is the ONLY bigger MMO who communicates with their players that well. I wonder if they might not be the best in the whole industry of doing that.

Try Blizzard! Not a word until AFTER patch.

Zeni doing kinda great Id say. We asked for "Jerkins" in here, the forums......and they went ahead and did em!

That Zeni is even discussing future adds to the game, not just fixes, balances and bugs, is very, very rare among MMOs.

This game desperately needs someone who can COMMUNICATE like Ghostcrawler.

Love him or hate him, he gave long explanations of why the developers were taking WOW in the directions they did, the reasons they did 'X' and not 'Y', and engaged in long and often contentious conversations with players.

True, he got trolled a lot but he was an adult, he dealt with it. WOW is a lot poorer now he's gone, the engagement between Blizzard and the players is palpably less.

Of course, even at the reduced company/player interaction WOW has now .. or for that matter, Rift to name another .. it's still vastly more than we get here.

@Asrenic_touch, there's no 'Developer Discussion', there's a monologue from ZOS which the players discuss, there's no ZOS participation at all.
