how do you communicate with someone else?

I'm sorry if that's stupid. I just don't know the answer.

IF (big if for Xbox users, more likely for Playstation) you have a keyboard, you can talk like we all do. If there is a text entry box, you can do it the hard way with the popup keyboard.

Most likely, they will implement some method of radial-menu callouts, as this is fairly common and popular.

XBox users will have access to Xbox Live, which has a built in voice/IM service independent of the game itself, though ESO might get a built in voice program to support Playstation users.

XBox One users can also use skype in the sidebar, if they want.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Thanks! Had no idea. You can skype on an xbox?!? Unreal!

Hmmm...maybe I should work on getting a career after all...

    Requires a kinect.

You might know more than me. I haven't tried to access skype on a sidebar with the kinect-less version (I bought a launch day console), but I can do sound-only chats and IM chats just fine.

The interface is what bugs me, but it's the same Skype as what you get with Windows 8, which also bugs me. In my opinion, much harder to get things done than the older versions of skype.

XBox One Skype is just like any other version of it. Voice commands make it pretty simple to use.

The one thing I hate about the Kinect. I'm a southerner, by region, but unless I speak like someone from southern Alabama, the Kinect doesn't seem to know what I'm saying.

It sounds too ridiculous to be true, but I've tested it with lots of people, and it's still proving out.

Most console games have built in voice chat. Now you think because PC doesn't have it that they aren't thinking about it, but we also haven't seen controller support yet either. It will be interesting to see what they do, but I have a feeling they will take short cuts. It is very simply to add a voice chat function that will require the player to host a chat room. This is done in Playstation Home. I would prefer a built in proximity chat with toggle features to mute certain categories such as "friends only" or "public" chat, but that is unlikely.

I am a southerner as well and have some voice recognition issues from time to time. Have to leave out the drawl and southern verbiage.

As any southerner knows, there are MASSIVE differences in dialect, sometimes in the same state, and I just don't think Microsoft has it right yet.
