Whats up with that?

What the hell is up with the hit/damage number cruncher? I was one hit spanked from a VR10 Clannfear even through blocking....

I had a similar issue yesterday fighting VR9 Dwarven Constructs in Razak's Wheel public dungeon. Blocking, even with full stamina, I would sometimes still take huge damage. It's inconsistent and very frustrating. Does anyone else get this?

    Yup, often through capped armour and block.

    People will pop up to say you should move out of the red, and they are not totally wrong, but the bigger point is that sometimes when fighting multiple opponents moving out of one red zone puts you into another and I don't think many builds could take a hit this big and live.

    They 'say' they fixed the accidental boost to mobs but numbers like this suggest they are mistaken or that the fix was not global.

    Yes agreed. Although when you fail any interrupt or dodgey implemented dodge should it mean insta-death?

    There is a new combat bug in town at least for me, where i block but you just see the animation and a split second after blocks drops away and then reinitialize the block, but then you get hit of course since the game sees it as not blocking in time.
    Especially in my case a very bad bug because i learned to block at the very last time, now i have to change my way of blocking all over because of this bug.
    So it might be you thought you was blocking but it bugged out.
    But on another note, and yes here we go again, clannfears you dont have to block :P just step out of the way. They dont have powerattacks, just small aoes, the circular attack easy to doge out of, the charge, which is even easier since it runs back a bit first and you can already get out of the way before it even charges that attack up.

    There's another thread which covers experiments with Armour and apparently armours/critters in VR are considered to be bugged in that the Critters appear to ignore armour when doing damage.

    Could also be that you were crit by the mob, as ZOS has mentioned that all enemy creatures have a chance to cause critical strikes.

    If you're taking inconsistently high spikes of damage sometimes, this could very well be the cause.

    because clannfear charge is the easiest move to avoid, its so slow you can practically walk out of the line, easily roll or stand in the way and inturrupt. Im glad vet levels punishes you for ignoring mechanics. i get very frustrated with the charged shot that archers one shot you with, but, its slow they yell they are doing it, and its interruptible. got to pay attention to mechanics. do you want to just be able to block through everything and never die? try rolling and interrupt.

    yeah unless you are cc are knocked down, charge shouldn't ever hit you.
    Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

    Charge is blockable, at least the clannfear one. Stuns them when they hit you...

    There is a fix in today's patch that says it fixes a bug where some abilities (didn't say which ones) were taking off the "block" buff" even though you were showing as blocking.

    yeah this happend to me other day with a group of skeles....
    i was just runnin around bored killing em.. then one group 2 shot me..
    2.4/2.6 its a bug man... the one i was trying to kill went back to full health even b4 i was dead.

    bah. that's nothing. I saw a pic of a PvP mage doing 3028 damage:/. lol. just teasing, I get you. I cant imagine how much it sucks right now to be sword and board in vet zones:/ my advise? get as much resistance to critical strikes as possible, as im sure that's why it did that much damage

    I think at v+ level it is deliberate because I see this very often. I think they increase the crit chnces of mobs so even if you do defend you are almost dead, a crit hit against a parry will still do a lot of damage, unless it's a crit parry and I could be wrong on that so...

    As said roll dodge is your friend, they can't hit you if you aint there, although I have been outside of an AOE attack and still got hit, so sometimes it's just *** programming and bugs. I got killed way outside of an AOE once, even though the the mob was on the tank, and not even facing my way, *** happens, and then you die... :)
    WTS a rare racial motif for a price that reflects it's value, you're probably the only one without an obsession for useless cosmetic crap. Who needs style anyway when you already have it?

    The way MMOs are, sometimes you can think you've blocked or dodged in time (and it actually looks like you do quite clearly on your computer screen), but you will still take all the damage. This phenomenon is due to latency and unfortunately and there's nothing you can really do about. Though being in VR content I'm sure you've gotten use to it and have learnt to compensate.

    Bro, are you sure you played this game before ? Charge skill always was 1 hit or atleast near death strike even in normal zones.
    There is a reason why you have almost infinite time to step away from the path or use block -.-

    Funny thing is, I was running into this same type thing in Glennumbra yesterday. Not counting the broken armor set bugs, no longer stacking traits on weapons sets, so some loss there, oh and to top it all off my impenetrable traits were giving no bonus to the resistance......Go figure that one. Not sure what is going on here, but I have been encountering this problem with block and interrupt in VR zones for a long time. I believe there was a bug that was causing some skills to bug out block even though it was showing the animation, it did absolutely nothing. Npc's still plowed right through you. Sometimes getting out of the red is not always possible, especially on the boss I had to do yesterday that was spawning massive amounts of wisps in a little room, so the whole floor was one massive red spot. My nb has no spell resistance and showing on my character sheet had zero resistance to anything. Something was broken after the patch for sure. It was the first boss I have not been able to clear since day one, and still not sure what to do about it. OH and if they were suppose to fix that block bug? Well it didn't fix, but that is not surprising is it?
