I think its wayyyyyy too easy to get gold in ESO. I remember in other mmo's where I was saving for months to buy the best armor and mounts. Here I just have a *** ton of money and nothing to do with it

The only rich people I knew in the game were dupers or people who shot up in levels real fast and sold motifs.
Do NOT buy the cheap horse, it is 17k wasted.
selling raw mat seems make best sense, easy to find, and good price.
I had only 40k all the way to V3, then just farmed rare motif to 150k.
Don't repair. Just replace worn out gear....If you are a crafter and your gear isn't terribly special consider just replacing it though. Also don't hit 'Repair All' at a vendor if you unequipped broken gear and it's still in your pack. Repair all does indeed repair everything you have, including things you're not wearing. Decon or sell first and then repair.

One of the best ways to make money is to join some trade guilds (they advertise in zone chat quite often). You can be in up to 5 guilds so feel free to join more than one.
What I find reliably makes money is to post all the items you find that have researchable traits on them (Divines, Well-Fitted, Exploration, etc.) on a Guild Store for something like 350-400g each. Trust me, people buy them.
Also save your raw materials (raw flax and other clothing materials, iron ore and other blacksmith materials, and raw maple and other woodworking materials), either for when you have 3/3 in the extraction trait for those professions to increase your chance of getting rare items for refining them, or to sell in stacks of 100 on your guild stores as they will reliably sell for between 1000g and 1500g per stack.
The reason for the high price and why you should NEVER sell your raw materials to a vendor, is because with 3/3 in extraction for the relevant craft, you have a good chance of getting rare (and valuable) upgrade materials used for upgrading end-game gear.
As you would imagine, people looking to upgrade end-game gear tend to have plenty of gold to spend by then.
Other than that, sell any white items to vendors and deconstruct any green items that don't have researchable traits at a crafting station to level up your crafting if you want, which will help you get high enough (level 40) in a craft to get full 3/3 points in extraction.
Hope that helps!
Care to elaborate? I'm pretty new to this game (2 weeks) and am riding a common horse. I've put everything into speed and its now over 25%, which is how much the fast 40k horse goes. Will my horse be slower over all at max level? Will there ever be a reason to sell it off and buy the more expensive horse?

There is only a 10 point max difference between a cheap horse and a 47k horse.
Don't sell gear, research or deconstruct it. The material often sells for more than the gear does. It is different when you are taking about blues or better or set items. But for trash whites or greens decon.
Also you can make a LOT of money selling raw materials vs refined ones. Some people buy stacks of raw for 1k each. They are making a profit as well because they have the skill points to give them higher chances for upgrade materials, so they refine the raw and hope for rare materials to sell.

If it has traits, sell to players.
I paid 1k last week for two heavy armor with divines. I still need two more.
This is another bonus of joining a large trade guild (or 5). Most people know you can set up chat filters to hide guild chat, and create a new tab that you can switch to if you want to see what certain guilds are saying. One way to save money is only fast travel at wayshrines, if you teleport in the field it costs coin but from a wayshrine it's free.

Bear in mind, I'm pretty new to ESO, only playing for about a week and now at level 14. From day one, I started saving up for a horse. I've been selling about 90% of my loot, not buying anything, and I still only have about 6k. Is anyone else having difficulty with this?
