What attack is this??

What attack does the enemy have that places that red barbed-wire thing around your character and basically roots you while it drains your health to about half? This doesn't matter if you're level 40 and facing a far weaker opponent. It creams you every time it is applied successfully. As far as I know, there is no defense or way to mitigate the attack. No need to provide an obvious response like , "then get out of the way."

If it's the one I'm thinking of it can be interrupted. But yeah, it is brutal.

Is that a "break-out" type deal? It gets you out of any applied roots or snares?

It's similar to the Nightblade "agony" skill. Hurts more from NPCs. And yes you can break it with both mouse buttons.

Use your "interrupt" to break hard CC (that stops you from doing anything) and "roll" (double tap a movement key) to break roots and other soft CCs.

I know exactly which you are talking about, enemies do have an activate animation it does not appear to be interruptible but you can block it. Unfortunately you have no way of knowing if when it is being cast and its a short timer maybe 1-1.5s. So, using the left click then right click together stamina consuming cc break is your best bet, until you figure out exactly which mob is casting it. It's only 1 type in the different area's so you shld be able to recognize quickly just take them down first or block when you see them use their animation.

Definitely sounds like the Agony skill from the effects.

Use a bow or staff, and keep your distance, it's the only way to kill him.

But yeah, that barbed wire attack is evil, in that the person who came up with it needs counselling. An attack that can't be blocked and will kill players a lot higher than they need to be, give me a break.

Yeah Its a casted ability you can interrupt it or break free when its cast. I rarely ever see it cause I interrupt pretty much everything.

The first time i hit it, it killed me several times. Then i learned to break it. Now it is close to laughable.

Now the game itself may give you next to no instruction on how to do this, but that is a different problem altogether. the skill design itself is fine. Break it or block it.

I hear ya. I was so glad to get.forward momentum skill to break the snare, but I find even that doesn't work. Wish I knew of something that did counter this. To me, forward momentum (two-handed skill) should break this, but it doesn't.

Things like this are irritating in that the sudden inability to move feels like lag. I really wish there was a reliable visual indication / debuff icon for things like this, Animations / effects break frequently, and typically don't even show up in enviornments with a high number of effects firing within render range.

I've lost count of the number of times i've tried to break out of 'real' lag with CC escapes / rolls.

Undefendable enemy skills should be reserved for only the most powerful enemy bosses not trash mobs.

It's Agony (Nightblade Skill) and just a lot more powerful when mobs do it than players (like everything else mobs do). Break it same way you break every CC, right/left mouse buttons using stamina.

These sort of suck if you are using stamina based attacks.

This effect is not a snare but a form of hard CC. You have to use the keybind for interrupt to break it (default interrupt keybind is hold right mouse button + left mouse click).

I really hope that they can one day update the tutorial or put some form of hint (does the death recap already do this? not sure as I don't pay attention to the "hints" in the recap) that roll dodging gets you get of roots, and interrupt gets you out of hard CC effects.

You get used to them. If you're in it face it's even easier, as soon as you seen the "red lines" it means it's an interruptable cast.

Melee mobs only have a couple of options. If they back up and cast something it's going to be the "flying blade" that you'd want to dodge, even blocking hurts quite a bit (vet lvls).

If you're at range and they stop moving towards you it's going to be the "barbed wire" or the "flying blade". The mobs generally dont back up for the barbs.

If they're in melee range is most often the "whirlwind" which isnt interruptable and half the time you still take damage even if you move out of the red circle, blocking this is fine.

tldr; If you're at range and the (melee) mobs casts something (red lines, charging around the char) you dodge. If you're in melee range, as soon as you see the red lines charging, you interrupt.

This is all basic, you can also just use skills that pull/stun/knockback/knock down etc.

Im not 100% sure atm, but I think you can just block the barbed wire cast and nothing happens to you. Anyways tldr applies.
