What happened to the load times? It takes 5 minutes now just to get to the character select... it used to take 5 seconds. Yet another thing that makes me want to give the middle finger to this game

Why does ESO still take longer to load than a game from the pre CD era? You know, the ones you loaded onto a computer by running a tape...

Seriously I go from expecting to play a good bout in-game to wanting to scratch my eyes out and/or delete the Zenimax folders on my computer.

There have been great strides forward in client optimization, I just hope ESO devs are still looking to optimize load times.

5 minutes to get to character select is atrocious.

Hey there @amokamoeba_ESO,

Do you happen to have any add-ons installed? We've had a few reports of long load times that have been resolved by removing add-ons.

To test this, head to My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\Live, grab the AddOns folder, and move it to the desktop. This will preserve your add-ons, but remove them from the game. Once that has been completed, launch the game and log in, then let us know if the load times decrease.

xD probs a bit late @ZOS_GaryA (see OP post date), i just didnt want to open a new thread to air a grievance.
2 computers 2 account holders same randomly long load times on both sides of the room. Sometimes its a 'normal' amount of load time, other times it gets as bad as having to reload the game to get anything to happen.

His' comp is gtx 770, 8g ram and SSD on i5, mine is 660m gpu, 12g ram on i7.
I'll admit to using quite a few addons, but across the room he prefers to use as few as possible.

Are there any particular culprits (re: addons) that are suspected of causing longer load times?

EDIT: just to reiterate, the long load and infinite load into character select is almost random... sometimes the game will just load up.
