Action bar

I sometimes play with a friend who just cannot get use to using the keyboard to cast and use skills. They would prefer to be able to use their mouse to actually click on the spell or ability they want to use.

Is there an option or an addon that would allow her to be able to play the way she would prefer to play?

You can customize keybinds in Esc > Settings > Controls/Keybinds. There you can rebind abilities.

Thank you forb for this information but the thing is she does not like using the keyboard to use the skills she would much rather click on the skills using mouse pointer. I will pass on this information though.

Thank you McCracken, this might be an option if there is no way to use the mouse pointer.

Then she will never make it through VR content...unless you get an mmo mouse.
Not using the mouse to control the character will cripple her effectiveness in avoiding enemy attacks.

Can also try Xbox or PS controller for windows. I use xpadder to convert keyboard strokes.

This game, much like many new cheaply produce games, use only the reticule targeting and have moved away from cursor gameplay like WoW and DAoC used. She can hit the . button to switch to cursor mode but it is not useable with casting or 'clicking' to target attack. In short, this game is not clicker friendly.
