What happened to annon groups?

I logged in to goto crag and do some anon groups and found only one group of 8-12 people running between all the anons. I thought they only nerfed the xp from the crystals. what that so bad that people stop going there?

I'd like to know if there has been any change to the VP you get as well, since I am about to hit VR1 with my second character and don't feel like doing the massive quest grind all over again.
