3 very simple changes that will fix a lot of problems

1) Make block (right mouse button unless you have changed it) be a stop-cast
2) Make activating a quickslot (usually a potion) a stop-cast
3) This is perhaps the most important and needed one: make weapon swap a stop- cast.

Seriously, this game is all about action combat and quick second reactions that make the difference between success and defeat, why are these 3 things not already stop-casts (things that immediately make you stop whatever action you are doing and do them instead)?

    Really good ideas. I have a big beef with weapon switching because you have to first finish casting or whatever you're doing and only then will you be able to switch weapons.

    Also it will be good for PvP too.

    Block already interrupts your current action.
    P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.

    I like number 3, though in pvp we already have an issue with permablock and animation canceling.

    1. Blocking is already a stop cast, this is the best way to do it
    2. I'm unsure about this mechanic, but agree with it
    3. You identified a big problem with this one, very good job.

    For example, if you have an AOE spell prepared to drop, you aren't able to switch weapons. I'd much rather have the system cancel my cast to swap when I need it to, rather than having to block and THEN swap my weapon.

    Oh, so a stop-cast is an action that stops whatever animation you are performing?

    Yet you still can cast while continuously blocking which makes absolutely no sense to me...

    For most actions, yes. But I have encountered a few attacks that it doesn't cause you to stop-casting, mostly being channeled abilities, spells with long cast times, and especially Nightblade abilities (I'm looking at you, "swallow soul")

    The animation is too long for an "instant" cast spell, its about 1 1/2 seconds. What is with everyone's obsessions with animations? Who cares if it clips it, I'm not saying it should clip when I cast another attack, just when I try to block.

    1 1/2 seconds also happens to be the length of time it takes an NPC enemy to cast a heavy attack, you know, the ones I need to be able to block. If I start casting swallow soul, and the enemy happens to start casting a heavy attack at the same time, I'm hosed.
