How to load keyboard commands from an alt?

So I played around a bit with one character today and now I'm creating my main. But despite looking everywhere, I can't figure find where the keyboard/mouse .ini is saved. I play a Razer and it took a bit to set it up.

Can someone help a newb and show her how to transfer keyboard settings from one character to another?

Thanks!

    Wait ... what?

No offense, but are you sure? No one would do that to a game like this, where you play multiple characters. How do you keep track of the keys?

Really, no offense, but there must be something we're missing. I'll put in a customer service question.

Yep, I have looked, nothing to be found, it's all kept on the servers, logging on with my GF's comp had all my controls ready to go... game options are not kept on your computer, they are saved on the server.

Confirmed. Here's the response from CS:

    ****

    Greetings!

I am sorry to let you know that there is currently no option to set up the same keybindings to every character on a player's account. Players will need to set up their keybindings preferences on every character they create.I apologize for any inconveniences this issue may have caused however if you have any other concerns please feel to reply back to this email,I will be more than happy to assist you.

Wow, this really sucks. It's not terrible but couldn't this be fixed?

@Carnage2K4: How do you log onto someone else's game? I was at a friend's house last night and he was showing me some of the basics of TESO but when I tried to log on we got an error message. Can I log onto his install because, seriously, playing on my laptop sucks.

There are a lot of features this game doesn`t have... they decided to make it more "old school"... not sure if it was their design or just not enough time.

I just logged in via the normal manner, I had to do the security check via email but otherwise it was just login with account name and PW as per the norm.

There's an addon for that. This thread forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/comment/985813/#Comment_985813 has the answer you need.

Also you have to redo all your chat colours including 5xguild chats and 5xofficer chats if you create a new character.
I have my different guild chats in varying shades of green so I can tell apart a bit easier. I keep officer chats the same colours as that guild chat to make things simpler.
My group chat is blue and my whispers purple because i'm used to that from another game.
When I made a new character, I had to write down all the chat RGB numbers and manually enter them.
It really doesn't make sense that it is different for each character especially considering that those same 5 guilds are the same across your account and not different per character.

There is an addon called binder.

There is an addon for this

Not sure of the name, but you can find it at esoui.com/addons.php

As @AlexDougherty already said, look for binder.

Bit of a silly response in my opinion.

Something as basic as being able to copy your key settings between characters should be there in any game where you play multiple alts.

Pointing out that another game missed it too but the devs were quick to correct it does not mean the poster thinks Rift was a better game.

UI I can sort of agree (to a point, not however for example having to use an addon to sort my bank), give a minimalist one and let players add what they want via adds.

But this is different and if an addon can be made to get around this obvious immersion, then when it was first bought to their attention (I hope in beta) they should have done something about it.

It nay be a trivial thing for those without many alts or without the need for different keybinds, but it's exactly the sort if thing that many players will find both very annoying and very unbelievable and to many of those players, it will make them wonder about the competence of the game designers.

Try hitting X on the keybinding screen when you've gotten all your key bindings set up--POOF!--gone, without any confirmation. Another brilliant UI decision by the people that decided you had to set them up separately for each alt.

What I do is use external keymappers for my mouse, keyboard, and keypad, and then bind those mappings to the executable (I use all Razer gear). Then I keep the default keybindings as pristine as possible (across games) and get used to the same mouse button doing essentially the same thing in whatever game I'm playing.

Works pretty well, actually, at least for me.

There's no need to act like that. I enjoyed Rift but it had it's shelf life as do all games with each of us. I am enjoying ESO & probably will more so if they fix the glaring bugs. The fact remains that the Rift community asked for this feature & the Rift devs responded a week later by adding it to the game.

Thankfully a couple of addon makers put in an across all characters setting for their stuff. Nice to see same UI no matter the character
