Trouble with keyboard and target without a mouse

I play with only a keyboard.

I can't target creatures attacking on my left or right of me. I can only target creatures where the cross hairs are and moving accurately with the keyboard is difficult. I had to setup a macro just to be able to rotate.

Does anyone have any solutions for this, beside having to have a mouse?

TAB key? I have a mouse and I stillTAB target a lot. Makes it easier killing healers and archers.

Your tab key should scroll through targets for you.

Tab only works on targets in front of you, which means if the target has moved to the side, and the game has no 'rotate camera' keybind, you're left trying to back up and then strafe.

Not that I dislike their control scheme, but I'd agree some keyboard turning would be a solid addition.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Probably because it's a situation of either or and only one HID can be utilized at a time, methinks.

Have you tried a Logitech G13 yet? It does come with a thumbstick, so you could use that for movement and assign keys to the cam or vice versa.

EDIT: Thinking of it, flight pedals could do the trick, too.

Possibly they have a disability? Maybe only one hand?

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't ask if they had no problems using one.

I know how tab targeting works so with no mouse yes he would have to back up since he can't spin.

I love my gamepad, and the mouse that goes with it.

I do NOT like my poor 4gb ram PC that is constantly running at 98%, though.

By the way, in reference to your sig, where did you get that Cogo post? I'd love to see what was said, hahaha ...

Oh, and something I found that was even more than awesome:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/70308014/kings-assembly-a-computer-mouse-full-of-awesome

They are building variants with trackballs and d-pads instead of joysticks, and I believe they have one where, instead of moving the mouse, you actually just tilt the entire pad on miniture joystick axis.

I thought about that but the OP implies that he may be using the keyboard to move the cursor, because he doesn't have a mouse. That would require both hands.

If it is indeed a disability maybe a mmo mouse with many buttons could also work. Just set the skills and movement on the mouse buttons and don't use the keyboard anymore. A gamepad wouldn't work to well either since it does require two hands.

I've been THAT close to buying a G13 myself .... for another game, originally, but it's like a G13 or similar device is a REQUIREMENT in order to be able to play ESO and not go insane over unresponsive keys. Hmmmmmmmmm.... I need to find a good deal on this..... :P

That thingy looks intriguing, but it also looks like it was stolen off the set from Star Trek to my eyes. How hard is this to learn and adjust to? Same with the regular gaming mice - they look bigger than normal on websites? How large or small are the keys? I have a bit of arthritis in my right thumb, would a gaming mouse just cause pain?

Took me maybe an hour getting used to and just a few play sessions to be better with it than normal keyboard and mouse. It works very well with ESO, I am truly missing that thing when I'm playing on my laptop /w mouse.

I'm using a g600 with it, so I have all buttons I'll ever need right at my fingertips and thumbs, though you probably don't need that many keys and probably can't even reach them anyways, if your not really that nimble-fingered or have too big or too small hands.

I can use maybe two thirds comfortably, the rest is just a tad bit too inconvenient to reach. A little more training could help, but 12 side buttons are pretty much overkill. To some extent this holds true for the G13 as well, as there probably will always be some keys out of your hand's 'comfort zone' as well.

Still, worlds better than any other 'normal' keyboard and mouse combo. Though it might be a good idea, if possible, to try out different HIDs of different brands, like Razer or MadCatz in a store near you, to find one that fits your hand best.
