problem getting experience points

have been playing with friends in a group, they are now level 34 and I am 21. Why wouldn't I advance the same level as the rest?

    We all play at the same time, if someone leaves the game, we all leave. When there is a battle, the others may get 350 XP where I may get15 XP or none at all, even though we are in close proximity to each other

    While in the group, all the other players have been getting the same XP reguardless of their effort or lack of, in killing the enemy. Except me.
