I was going for a headline like "10 fixes that can save ESO" - but i don't want a fanboi swarmed discussion about the game is failing or not.
So instead i just present 10 ideas, that the devs can implement fairly simple, fairly quickly, that I believe would make lots of people come back.
I hope we can all agree, that ESO is a great game with lot of potential, but something happend, that have made at least half the playerbase leave, and also more. 2 weeks pre. Craglorn, my guild had 120 active players, and 2 weeks after, we have maybe 30-40 still playing, and way more casual.
The major complaints I hear are in random order:
- LVL 50 story and questing line was fine, but V1-10 with more forced story and questing is simply too much, too boring, too much of the same.
- every patch or fix, fixes 3 Things, and creates 2 new problems.
- gear rewards, drops, Progress is too weak. Its GW2 all over Again where all have the same stats.
- Bugs - still bugs, broken quests andjust too many Little annoying Things.
- PVP Lag
- Craglorn is one big mistake on so many levels
- general game tools like banks, grouptools and ui are 3'rd rate compared to other mmo's 5-10 years old.
- Cyradiil have too many Things that needs fixing
- The game has no freedom to play and lvl up how you like.
- Lack of content that does not involve endless story questing.
So my list of 10 easy fixes for the devs, that will get ESO on the path it should be.
Its not a perfect list, its not a total fix. There are no easy fix to fixing bugs, and changing some systems, so my list is just Things they can do right now to make ESO better, but not perfect.
1. - Improve leveling in PVP.
Triple the xp and veteran points you get from killing other players.
Add a bonus/penalty variable based on the campaigns Castle balance. Kill a player from a faction that has 70% of the Castles, then you get 70% bonus xp.
Add several new daily and weekly kill quests, based on faction, class, race etc. so we have more to play for, and more to come back for.
2. Remove the Caldwell Almanac questlines that you HAVE to do. Make them optional. Open the V1 and V6 zones when you ding for the rank.
3. Improve xp rewards.
Xp for killing monsters in V1-10 zones whould be 5 times better. Let it be a viable leveling option to just run around and Slaughter mobs. But discourage organized aoe grinding, by reducing xp for every extra mob pulled over 3, by 20% pr. mob. Mob grinding should be good xp, but not exploitable for large zergs.
And double quest xp rewards in Veteran quests. That tourture should be rewarded.
4. Fixes to craglorn:
Cut all World trash mobs HP's in half. Remove the need for a 4 man grp, let ppl be able to duo in there!
5 - Let us Group and help each other with no restrictions.
Fix it so anyone can join their grp mates in any quest, and any dungeon. Put a lvl limit on to prevent powerleveling exploiting, but remove the stupid rule that prevent us form helping each other in quests and dungeons. If my guildmate have trouble with his personal quest, I should be able to join and help him, no matter if i have done the quest/dungeon or not! Its supposed to be a social game Guys!
And this goes not only for craglorn, but all the game! If 2 players are within 4-5 levels of each other, they must be able to Group for any quest or dungeon no matter what step they are on.
6 - Loot.
Loot is fine at lvl 1-50, actually also at V1-12. But the game needs MUCH more loot to grind for and hunt in endgame.
PVP loot drops should be random in rarity - there should be epic and even legendary drops on occasion!
PVP Vendors with random lootbags need to be fired! When I need a frikin bow, I should not enter a shop and get handed a 2-hand sword! WTH?? Fire whoever came up with that idea and change it to a real shop - what you see is what you get!
7 - remove or seriously move the softcaps. Let us be more individuals. If someone want to have super damage, then let it be more possible, but at the expense of survivability. Or let some tanks be hard to kill in PVP (oh wait, we got that) but let them suffer greatly on damage. Let more and better loot make players stronger and weaker accordingly, more variation and less predictable.
8. Stop making new content until you fix all the Little issues. 1 small issue bother noone. But hitting 50 annoying Things in a short period - that is a gamebreaker for many. WTH is up with new buggy map in PVP? it has worked fine before. Stop breaking the game more?
9. Fix the PVP lag..
If you want pvp to be endgame in ESO, it must run perfect. And i don't get it, because I played on totally full servers in the last beta weekends, and it ran smooth. But since then it has just gotten worse.
10 Balance the classes.
This is no eay fix i know - its an order!
And you cant just fix it with nerfing whatever is todays special winning skill or class, you also have to boost a Little here and there. Too many skills are useless, and some skills are used by all in the class. That is bad. The good would be to have all skills have value, so its hard to pick the best, and we will se much more variation in specs.
11. one more - need more daily based content. Come on and learn from other mmo's what Works! - And not just in Cyradiil. Not everyone likes pvp.
Its easy to complain and demand fixes. But that is all i have left. 80% of my guild have left ESO because of all these Little issues, that build up to the final drop.
Something must be done, and if you dont agree with some of my ideas, then support those you do, so Zenimax see this thread.
