Dragon Knight

Is it possible to create a dragon knight built based on stamina using heavy armor, stamina/weapon based attacks only and not magicka based? I'd really like to make a juggernaut character that just survives off brawn and not magicka.

What do you think?

Mine is full two handed weapons. One magicka one stamina with heavy armor and I love playing it that way. Don't care meta games where everyone says you must play cloth and destru / resto.
But I'm only 34 so far so It's ok but for veteran they say It's not sustainable...
    I'll see later :)

I am doing a purely stamina based redguard medium armor 2H dk alt. It is pretty fun in normal. I doubt that it will work in VR but I doubt that I will get him that far anytime soon. So my answer would be of course you can .

I have a vr12 DK that I have used either 2h or 1h/s since the beginning. Yes it is possible to run a stam build BUT... and this is the but, I needed to use my magic and stam CC abilities on groups of 2-3 in the vet zones. This goes double for any healer mobs. I would suggest for a stam build however to use medium armor as soft capping armor is very easy and medium has the best stam returns. I dont know about how you want to play but yes it will be ness. to use magica skills from time to time. I used shattering rocks, a morph to petrify and power slam, a morph from power bash. That helped quite a bit as one is magic and the other stam so I didnt run out of CC too quickly. Invasion, a shield charge morph and absorb magic, a morph from defensive stance help as well. Green dragons blood is a must not only for healing but stamina regen. Unstable flame and molten weapons will help as well. As a 2 hand I use every skill in 2 hand depending on the situation. In groups carve is esp good at gaining ultimate when fighting large groups. If you need armor use immovable brute and razor armor.

    Hope that helped.

Go for it, anything you want :) You might have a little bit harder time later on, depending on how you play, but personally, I'm having no trouble in VR with stam only build...

PVP you'll be eaten alive. PVE, esspecially 1-50, you'll be fine. I did it in PVE pre-vet, but rite b4 V1, respecced. Started noticing a major lack in stam. Went to a mix of heavy & med with stam perks. Still 2H. Not giving up my battle axe. Still not ideal but better.

The thing is your class skill line makes up your core skill set on your bar, everything else is just there to complement it in one way or another.

A DK not using class abilities are not much of a threat in PvP in contrast to those that uses both, similarly with end game Pve.

I don't think it's possible to make pure stamina based 2h that would work. As said in previous post DK skills are magica. However if you make char that attacks with stamina and gets support from DK skills it is possible. Question is then where you do draw the line in use of magica based abilities and stamina.

I play melee DK in medium armor where main attack is from weapon skill and the DK skills are supporting the weapon skill or helping with resources. I'm mainly PvE player and not dreaming to be invited in trials groups.

Of course it is possible, I have at least 3 characters with similar setups at different levels, my "main" using a 2-hander and my next (at slightly lower level) being 1-h / shield. Both use 5 pieces of Heavy Armour and 2 of Medium, to help a bit more with Stamina issues.

Thing is, as it has already been mentioned, there are at least a few class abilities that are absolutely indispensable. Green Dragon Blood for example.. just by not using this one, you would severely limit and "gimp" the character. And, we can dislike it all we want, but unfortunately these class abilities are magicka based.

So even if you are by no means a "mage", you would have to slot one or two "magick" skills, it is a necessity for basic survival with the current system.

Although this thread is a little dated, I'd like to add on it: Until V1, my DK has been wielding 2h-weapons only and wearing at least 4 pieces of nice steel, the other slots being eqiupped with cloth and leather for levelling purposes. He's been doing fine until he went to Auridon, the second veteran area. He still managed to survive pretty well, but the fights took longer and longer and, naturally, he ran short of stamina more often than not. Then, he looted some nice medium armor set which also gave boosts on weapon damage and critical chance. And this made things a lot easier. Fights don't last that long anymore, because he dishes out the pain much better, and stamina is no problem anymore.

As has been said before: to ignore Green Dragon Blood would be ridiculously daring. Also, to support your damage output further, some class skills seem to be obligatory. I like Burning Talons (for a very good CC-option), Unstable Flame (being cheap for me and painfull for my foes), and the Flame Lash (for an occasional self heal). Using those skills (plus, maybe, Molten Armaments for some additional boost to your damage) should not be too demanding on your magicka and go well with a focus on stamina based fighting.
