Just hit VR: advice to stop brain melting

Hi,

I hit VR1 and Killed Molag Bal. Hurrah. Had a thoroughly enjoyable adventure to level cap. Am levelling all 6 professions and have /played 7 days 13 hours 34 minutes.

I am now in another zone starting the same grind again (then again) for what I consider the rather stupid VR1 to 10 levels. Even the bags and chests drop crap low level food so i'll have to spend loads of extra time deleting them.

Aaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh.

So if i am going to save myself and continue playing I want to avoid as much of these VR levels and quests as possible.

I plan on trying to get the skyshards and doing the barest minimum quests to get to the next alliance.

but cadwell's quest just says work your way through the zones.

What quests in each zone do i HAVE TO complete to be able to move to the next zone or even alliance area?

I plan on trying to level VR levels through dungeon grinding, and Craglorn grinding. Anything other than repeating the last almost 8 days /played again, then again.

if this ins't possible then I will probably move on from the game because as much as i love it, this VR1 to 10 nonsense is just soul destroying.

I completed the levelling process, as intended, and should be ready for Craglorn and ready for almost comparable Cyrodil.

instead I have another 16 days of /played to get to either.

Cheers

In your quest journal there is now a new tab (up with achievements etc) and that lists the specific quests in the zone you have to do for Cadwell and when you complete it even puts a check mark there for you...

It is basically the main story lines of the zone.

I played through almost all of the AD quests lines but I couldn't do it for the next two factions also. You pretty much have to do Cadwell's to get to the VR6 zone also those are typically the quests that give skill points! If you don't care about the skill points you can probably safely go to crag and get in a grind group around VR6-7 anyway. Honestly I would say take your time there is very little to do at VR12 other than roll an alt and start over. The funny thing is though that doing the same quests you have already done on an alt is more fun then doing the other factions at VR levels.

    True story. I hate that.

    Just the main one.

    Fair enough.

7 days, VR and you are already whining about 'soul destroying' leveling taking too long?

no, I thoroughly enjoyed my 7 days to level 50. I did almost all the quests, lorebooks, dungeons (some a couple of runs), read the stories, levelled my skills, helped people out now and then, etc etc.

I enjoyed it. I played it as it was meant to be played. not speed levelling. not using exploits. not epeening to level cap.

but upon doing so, after my 7 days (that's /played time, not a week a few hours a day) I truly expected to be able to hit endgame, which to me is Craglorn and Cyrodil (on equal'ish footing).

I wanted to level the other zones as a DK and Sorceror, and in fact have alts in those around level 10. I didn't want to have to go through the other alliances in an alternate timeline just to get to end game.

it's a poor design choice because some people whined about not wanting to roll alts. Poor because it is enforced. Had Vr1to10 not existed and no XP given at VR difficulty, I would have still run the zones to get the soul shards, and those altphobics could have just played through the quests in the zones.

As it is I am sat here doing story breaking content because of other people's whines and i'm already feeling "what the hell am I doing".

The v1 to 10 via exploring the other alliances was original content -- it was not a response to whiners.

The devs were wrong in setting up the world story as forced solo content with fights that are impossible for many to get past. Those can and should be duo groupable but somehow I doubt the devs are going to take that very reasonable step. This is driving some of ZOS' customers away.

There does need to be reasonable alternatives to PvE to get to the highest level. I just got to V1 a few days ago and was finally able to beat that level 30 main quest, Halls of Torment. The rest of it was doable, but not fun in any way shape or form.

It probably has something to do with the main story when it gets updated in the future. v12 is significantly different than v1 though. Plus with major updates every 3-4 weeks you might want to be ready for the new content.
