We all know eso struggles with its identity, regardless if you love the game like me or hate it you have to admit there are points where eso doesn't know what it is. So what do you think?

No that poll is "Is this game an Elder Scrolls Game?". This poll asks "Is this game a RPG?".

BTW for everyone voting RPG: How is this game a RPG (lore-based game) when during VR1-10 you are guesting on your enemies factions? And apparently Molag Bal still around? Plot device it appears to be so, plot device...

Until they fix the issues with phasing and grouping, it's more of an RPG.

MMORPG, classic. Hasn't been a real MMORPG built in over a decade, honestly.

Lots of MMOG's. But none with the focus on quest content and lore/backstory to make it a real RPG.

It still has that multiplayer element, for sure. Especially with world content and PvP.

Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

    The full title is MMORPG.

I think the new players might not know that.

"RPG and MMO, it's mixed perfectly!"

Actually I think it is lacking in both equally.

It lacks the tools to be a proper MMO.

It lacks the epic feeling in the end game to be a great RPG.

I think the quests are fun, but lack any real feeling on change or importance.

We never get to stay in an area once we have made change. So, we don't get to bask in our own accomplishments.

There is no central hub that most players will gather, like a capital city that players from 1st to 50th will constantly travel to.

No it is an MMO that is trying to be an RPG. I get "plenty" of help from players already thank you very much. Whereas bots, filled /easymode public dugeons or bosses, 12038412 people in a zone, and of course PvP.

    Indeed it is so...

No. This is an RPG you play with other players.

I use my imagination to believe he has thrown me back in time before I kicked MB's butt.

So, I see it as this new land is the exact same time that my younger self is traveling in my first alliance.

WEll I was not able to get over that: PvE is pointless now... makes no sense lore-based logic wise. It is like saying: "OOO You're lvl 60(90) why don' you reroll on Horde (WoW) and enjoy yourself?"

I can't really call it more one than the other, and definitely not the perfect mix.

This game is a MOG. Half man, half dog. It's its own best friend.

Option 4: Both MMO & RPG but doesn't mix perfectly.

One of the principle reasons: phasing while questing and not being able to assist group members. That is a HUGE drag, but thankfully one of the things they have prioritized for fixing.

Truth is, this game is an RPG with the ability to play with others if you choose. You can also choose to play it alone like past TES, but it will remain an RPG. Random players you see out in the world might as well be bots because they are all running the same treadmill anyways.

That's how I've felt the entire time I've been playing. Not necessarily a bad thing since I love Elder Scrolls games but (at least in the lower level areas) it does not feel like a real MMO. It feels almost closer to Guild Wars 2 in a way...a strange...hard to put my finger on it way...

I just thought something funny off an Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode ESO is a twank versatile.

Usually , i would say RPG , because this is the case here , but i dont really think it is enough in this case , because some might understand that being a resonable state for this game , which is not. Leaving aside being a simple RPG.

ESO is a bad TES game and a bad MMO.

While true the end result is not bad , still , it is far from where i believe they can be comfortable and say they have done a good job.

I will simply comment that it is both and as has been stated by staff that it is a living breathing project that will only get better with input from the community.

I think we can all agree that regardless of genre the game has enormous potential at its core. Going forward I would personally like to see both aspects of the game continue to grow and be developed as all aspects of the game at this point still need polishing.

ESO is not a bad TES game at all. I played Oblivion and Skyrim for over a thousand hours each, and this game has that same feel about it. Changes come to every game title, and the changes with ESO were made for the MMO version of TES. Many of these changes include a reduction in small characteristics such as sleeping in a bed, or having the ability to level up all skills at once, but in return we get the MMO. Anyone who knows multiplayer games also knows that they take time to perfect, so while the multiplayer is still a work in progress, the game itself has plenty of TES content to give that lore feeling we got from the past titles. If you fail to gain that nostalgia, then perhaps it is you who has changed the most.

You mean to tell me you're getting the same feeling of making an impact a difference in the world as you did in TES? Seriously?

Well, that's not exactly what I enjoyed from the other TES games the most. For me it was always about the magic and the lore, but there are aspects of changing the world in ESO. I just saved a town from a bunch a warewolves. That seems to have had an effect.

The only major changes I can really think of from Oblivion and Skyrim are closing the Oblivion gates and finishing the civil war. And even those changes didn't do much.

As far as killing NPC's and moving default decorations around, that's just a inevitable part of playing an MMO. Items are just for show, and NPC's can't be hit, but I really didn't like ruining the preset environment anyways.
