Dragon Knight PVE Build. Where?

I have looked on Reddit and most of the things tank or dps/tank or pvp/tank etc.

What I am looking for is a good 1v1 and aoe build for PVE as a dragonknight, what synergies to use, what armor etc. Atm I wear medium armor x5 and 2x light, 2h sword and the other bar I use m Bow.

My dps is as you can maybe guess HORRIBLE. its like 300 on 1v1 tops, and even though the game isn't all about dmg, it sometimes actually is ...

Can anyone help me out!?

If you're magicka based ardent flame has good 1v1 dps skills and dots. A lot of people are using fire staffs for aoe and you will probably find it very useful for pve (although I don't use staffs so other dk's might be helpful in that). Talons is still pretty good, cinder storm for close encounters.

Since you are a 2h you would benefit from some form of healing, like dragon blood, or increased armor like scales or obsidian shield.

If you're a stamina dk, I think hunding's rage armor set offers weapon damage bonuses for dps builds, but some people have been having problems with it working properly.

Only other thing I can think of is increase weapon/spell critical, but with medium armor you should have that covered. Also it depends on your level, if you're not v12 yet or haven't maxed out your skills you don't need to worry about your dps being up to par.

I'm just a banana from another dimension.

Thank you PvP for ruining our classes. We totally appriciate !

DK DPS... Only 1 thing. get yourself some light armor and go destro/resto or resto/resto. For pure viable DPS thats the only thing you can do! Counts for all classes though.

In the moment you wanna do Trials its all about dps. Stick´n Dress is the only option. Also great for questing and/or solo pve in general.

For pure single target switch out Impulse with molten whip and the chains for spell symmetrie. Thats a good start. with actual patch you squeeze out around 800 dps with that.

Most important thing is light attack canceling.

I would like to add that there is a huge difference between a build made for an organized group and a build for solo PvE. It determines whether you need a balanced build covering everything from the ubiquitous 5-mob trash pulls to drawn out 1v1 fights against high HP quest bosses, or a specialized build capable of pretty specific min/max results.

For solo questing, you need a reliable, relatively low cost knock back with stun (looking at you Trolls). For group content such a knock back should almost never be used, but a ranged interrupt, or a gap closer with knockdown is very useful for dealing with ranged adds (looking at you Skeletal Archers).

For the solo questing, I personally went with 5L/2H (heavy Helm and Chest for the most armor per piece). Please put 49 attribute points into health. Now, most players agree that magic based builds are way stronger right now.

I went with fire staff (FS) and one hand and shield (1HS) because there are a lot of synergies in the Dragonknight (DK) passives for flame damage. 1HS allows you to work into the role of tank by swapping out a few pieces of that light armor.

Invasion (morph of Shield Charge) coupled with Flame Lash (choose either morph), followed by a quick heavy attack is a great way to open against solo mobs. Then swap to FS and Destructive Clench (morph of Destructive Touch) has you covered for a knock back with stun. Finally, Crushing Shock (morph of Force Shock) gives you a ranged interrupt which can be coupled with Fighter's Guild Expert Hunter in order to almost guarantee you proc insane damage against Undead and Deadric enemies.

FS has AOEs covered with Impulse (choose either morph), one of the most amazing skills. Impulse, along with Engulfing Flames (morph of Fiery Breath), should make quick work of those 5-mob trash pulls. I found cost reduction was key for solo builds, but spell damage is the meta for organized groups.

For organized groups, you can tank as mentioned above, or you can specialize in DPS by working towards the current DK meta. My understanding of the current DK meta is Scalding Rune (morph of Mage's Guild Fire Rune), Unstable Flame (morph of Searing Strike), Engulfing Flames, Spell Symmetry (morph of Mage's Guild Equilibrium), and Inner Light (morph of Mage's Guild Magelight).

With the above combination of skills, and FS light attack weaving, it has been shown possible for a DK to pull 1K DPS against Trials bosses. Of course, this insane DPS is being done by the best teams with great players, so YMMV.

Am I the only one who thinks PvE dps build should definitely NOT include restoration staff? From what I can see so far, THAT stick needs nerfing (especially Force Siphon and passive for +10% dmg), not whole DK class.

THanks for all th efeedback, what I notice the most is the Destruction staff.. I wish my 2h and bow would cut it but alas, to be a decend damage dealer, its just not good enough. Respeccing again will hurt me though.. over 250 points lol.

Just get the Dragonguard set or w/e its called that reduces ultimate by 15%. Get an AoE build, with SoM, pull large groups of mobs...

When it comes to the best "builds", keep in mind that there still are alot of builds that no one have done yet. Also, every skill and spell is subject for balancing.

Especially when they release they 2 new guilds and/or the new spells.

There are good builds today....but you dont know about next week.
I think you should pick a build you feel would suit you the best. And dont look at numbers. Look at what the skill/spell does.

You mention 1v1, so I guess thats pvp? There are stuns, so unless they change that (I dont think they will or should), 1-1 pvp simply will be about who attacks first, and player skill in pvp.

I suck....and always die instantly if I am alone in Cyro.

1v1 in PVE, I will wait for the next patch to decide what to do, because as you said they might trow a 180 on us. Till then.. i guess I got to be happy with horrible dps =P

I'd recommend going with something like this for your 2H bar.

    DK 2H Bar

2H - This is what I use as my main bar for PvE when I don't throw on random skills for the purpose of leveling them up. I usually keep Molten Armaments on bar 2. For a fight, I'll hit Molten Armaments, then hit Rally for a really great Weapon Damage buff. We're not worried about softcaps here, we're going to blow right past them. Then I hit Stampede to charge into the enemy & Immobilize him. Now that he's Immobilized, you're going to hit Flame Lash to set him Off Balance...then you'll hit it again, which does more damage & heals yourself. You're keeping a close eye on his health bar & if it's low enough, finish him with your Execution. If it's not low enough, give a couple strikes with the Unstable Flame first. For the Ultimate, I slot Flawless Dawnbreaker from the Fighter's Guild line. This gives you another 13% weapon damage as a passive while it's slotted. Always keep the standard on Bar 2, because a DK without a Standard is just not cool. ;)

Another skill that I sometimes substitute in place of Unstable Flame is Fossilize from the Earthen Heart line. It doesn't seem to get a lot of love for some reason, but 14.4 seconds (after passives) of stun time is nothing to sneeze at. When I'm fighting a group of 3, I stun one of them, kill 2 before the stun wears off, then finish him off. Do this strategically too, to save some Stamina...meaning if you have 2 casters & a dual wield enemy, stun the DW guy so he's not in your face draining your stamina reserves while you're blocking him.

Bow - I hate to burst your bubble, and others might disagree, but in my opinion, the bow doesn't synergize well with the DK's strengths. I was struggling with this same decision a few days ago on my VR1 stamina build 2H DK. I ended up going DW because the DK is all about getting up close & personal. Think about it...he only has 2 abilities (Fiery Grip & Stonefist) that have any sort of range to them, and they are both designed to bring the enemy to you or to knock them down so you can get to them. You're probably thinking you'll need some range for PvP, and there are definitely situations where that is the case. If you're wanting the bow for that reason, it'd probably be for keep defense, in which case I would look at Scorched Earth & Venom Shot so you're never twiddling your thumbs on the keep wall. Of course, you could always get Extended Chains & bring them up to you.

Armor/Gear - I like your decision with armor, going 5 Medium & 2 Light, and I think that'll pay off for you in the long run. As far as sets, I'm going with 3 pieces of Night Mother's Gaze & 5 pieces of Hunding's Rage. The NMG 3-set bonus is nice because it reduces your enemies armor by 20% when you crit. Seeing as how your Stampede opener ALWAYS crits, your Executioner is going to land on 20% squishier meat.

But that doesnt work for 1v1 PVE Boss fights though does it? The fight will last much longer to make it work with off balance and such.

Your right about the bow of course.. but they said that I could play anything I wanted and be valuable with it...
