You don't earn AP or any other form of points in Guest Campaigns.

Your home campaign gives you bonuses depending on how well your alliance is doing on the map. these carry over and effect you no matter what zone you are in. So you might as well help yourself and play in your home campaign.

Look at your PVP tab (L) it shows what each bonuses does

to OP you earn AP just fine, you just don't get points on the leaderboard of the guest campaign.
