Then you haven't played Rift through some of it's more extreme issues. Recently - 2? 3? months ago, there was a) extreme lag to the extent that we couldn't function at times, b) for a week straight, plus intermittantly afterwards, the chat servers went down. Yes, that means we couldn't talk ingame. Sometimes it would only be guild chat, sometimes everything but guild chat. We could raid, but server stability had issues at the time too, so overall it was a ***. My point - games struggle sometimes. I haven't had enough issues in eso to say if it's been extreme or not, but i HAVE seen other games with extreme issues of their own.
At one point in wow, this was 5+ years ago, they had an issue with instance servers being overloaded, so people couldn't do instances. They'd keep getting kicked out to the entrance when they tried to load in. That was another major problem.
At any rate - i'm getting pretty severe lag here, but glad i'm not the only one. Hoping they're still working on it, but in the meantime...ouch.

RIFT is a free to play dieing game.
I remember the instance lag issues on WoW and they where fixed very quickly.
ESO is a new big budget MMO, these types of issues should be non-existent. But hey this game is buggier than most games are in closed beta.
I love how everyone is a code and networking expert on the internet. They should just draft from the community and make deputy developers. You can have little badges and cowboy hats. We'll all have juice and animal crackers and stare at the servers, with no idea what to do. Maybe get a free lanyard.
I just have to say this:
All of the Elder Scrolls titles had bugs at launch, and AT LEAST up to six months after there were major problems like bugged quests, items, corrupting save files, and so on. Fallout 3 and New Vegas too!
I stuck those out and I'll stick these out. Why? You see a lot of other games where you can play a lizard man?
Yeah didn't think so.

This is a typical fight and happened to be the last one before I had to quit for reasons of futility:
This was a lazy bow attempt as I was pretty much giving up but I pressed the buttons anyway in this 1v1: I open with snipe on a sorcerer from stealth for 1200 (about half his health), follow up with a stun (+DoT), heavy, venom, heavy, venom and for good measure throw in a snipe since he's still looking seeming not to know where I was - and his health has moved about 3%. I'm used to that being slow to update but he should really be dead. I give up but continue firing anyway..
He wasn't high health and FTC says I did over 4k damage but.... clearly not.
He then begins to cast Crystal Frags. I wonder why he's not dead but get ready to evade. The projectile has just left his hands (not even close to hitting me yet) and I fall over dead. Death recap tells me he's hit me with a whole bunch of stuff. I'm not lagging by 8 seconds. What the hell is going on with this game?
I die instantly without seeing anything hit me very often. I'm just walking along then... dead. Death recap then informs me a bunch of stuff hit me that I never saw. This is pretty much PVP for me now which is clearly not viable.
Any ideas? I've tried fullscreen/windowed fullscreen/reducing settings (I have a highend machine in any case). I've disabled all addons at times. Frustrating!
