So ever since I have started playing ESO it has made me want to change several
things about my gaming set up.

Not only my computer but my chair too

So I bought one of these

9bvv3v0ox7rz.jpg'

I upgraded from a chair that originally looked comfortable but after 7 years of butt wear the foam pad degraded to a paper thin status and I was sitting on WOOD!

Why would you ever put wood in a computer gaming chair? It looked like a normal swivel chair too, just had wood in it...

The setup I have been playing on the last 7 years is an Alienware 51 X58 that I bought for $2,500 it included

Intel Core i7-920 @ 2.67 GHz
1 processor, 4 cores, 8 threads

ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6T DELUXE MOTHERBOARD

3063 MB of RAM @ 1066 MHz

NVIDIA GT9800

512GB HDD

I know, really worth 2500 bucks right? >_<

So far I have only upgraded one item on this computer and it was the graphics processor which I upgraded to a GTX 550 ti

So now I have this comfortable chair to sit in and my computer can only play on medium settings...how to remedy this?

UPGRADE

So today I just bought my first set of individualized parts in order to handbuild my own computer (none of this alienware crap)

This is what I bought on newegg today for $975

DIYPC Adventurer-9601G Black/Green Steel Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case with 5 x 120mm Green Fan and 1 x USB3.0

MSI Z97-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2765-KR GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54670K

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

PNY XLR8 SSD9SC120GMDF-RB 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

G.SKILL Trident X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-8GTX

Pretty big upgrade wouldn't you say?

So now that I am done showing off what I got, what about you guys?

Any stories about upgrades? What have you upgraded since you have started playing ESO? What upgrades are you planning for the future?

Did you already get the components and build your rig? I'd be interested in how much of a gain specifically the graphics card upgrade delivers...

Anyway, the three most important components in a computer are:
    - The chair.
    - The desk.
    - The screen.

The rest isn't that important... But those three can mean the difference between having your eyesight and back shot when you hit fifty, or not.

    Ciao, Muh!

Wood is a versatile material, plastics go brittle, so they are not right for structural support, metal is too hard and unyeilding. Wood is the only cheap material that is strong and flexible enough, and it ages quite well too.

Most chairs have it as a base to which other components are attached.

Admittedly, once the padding gets worn down, it's uncomfortable and splintery.

I prefer hanging support by pads and nettings rather than anything underneath the padding.

Definitely a solid upgrade. I haven't done any upgrades in a couple of years, but I'm considering getting one or two of the 800 series cards when they launch later this year. I may build a new system later this year too but I'll probably push it to next year. Still undecided.

I haven't sat in a "computer chair" for years. There is no written law that says PC users can't sit on a couch.

They do make nice little adjustable tables the hold the keyboard and mouse comfortably while sitting in plush comfort.

Falmer, I would do that however I would like my posture/wrists not to suffer.

    1. No I just bought them off newegg so they will be in transit tomorrow!
    2. I am more interested in the performance gain from the graphics card/ssd combo. Never used an SSD before.
    3. I have my chair fixed now i need a new desk and monitor, however I couldnt afford to spend another 300 dollars today =(

For the last 20 years I've been gaming from a chair that looks exactly like this (without the pad). I am 50 and my back is fine thank you very much.

I'm sure many of us have wood in ours chairs pretty often.

There's almost certainly a strong correlation between MMO play and use of the internet for *cough**cough*

A SSD is a nice upgrade it speeds up everything....

For a screen get one with minimum 27 inch and IPS technology.. you will never go back to a plain LCD.

For a chair it depends on personal taste but usually something to keep you ass and back comfortable. It should have support for your elbow so your wrists don`t suffer...

The desk... well i have one of those where you can modify the height but that said a standard one does nicely as you can set the chair lower or higher....

Haha i just purchased this last week best gaming chair i ever had :)

    OHRC0NW-2.jpg?1400767700

And i also purchased a 780 gtx about a month ago, because ESO killed my 580 gtx ,playing on a 1600p monitor (2560x1600) is very hard on the gpu for the heat , thats why i purchased my 780 with a cooler :)

People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.
