NB with Bow - How to take out groups of three at veteran levels.

To take down groups of 3 I use.

SLOT 1: Strife/Swallow Soul
SLOT 2: Veiled Strike / Surprise Attack
SLOT 3: Shadow Cloak/Dark Cloak
SLOT 4: Scatter Shot/Magnum Shot
SLOT 5: Assassin's Blade / Impale

STEP 1: Sneak behind healer of the 3 if there is one. If not, archer/caster.

Queue a heavy bow attack and hold. Open with veiled strike AND AT THE EXACT SAME TIME let go of your heavy attack, of course while sneaking/behind the healer/caster. Follow with 1 or 2 venom arrows and #1 target is dead.

STEP 2: Next I Magnum shot the remaining two to push me away and them away/stun them.

Then I unload on one with non-stop venom arrows and a Strife to get healing regen'ing. Use your Dark Cloak with a veiled strike #2, magnum shot #3 to put is ass back in place while finishing #2, then another dark cloak/veiled strike combo, load up a heavy shot on #2 to drop him down...and finish him off.

New tactic...after I drop the first 1, knock around the remaining two, I now fire Dark Cloak, cue up a heavy bow attack and a veiled strike...rinse and repeat until #2 is dead...and if necessary, park #3 with a magnum shot 1 or 2 more times.

STEP 3: Easy, magnum shot him, Dark cloak/veiled strike combo...#3 or a 1 on 1, shouldn't even get an attack off on you if you're doing it right.

Recommend to boost Magic and Health through food.

actually if you hold attack on a bow and hit veiled strike, both go off simultaneously without you having to let go of the mouse button.

    just fyi.

I do basically the same thing - I just use Siphoning attacks instead of shadow cloak, and impale instead of poison arrow.

Also, you don't need precision on Surprise attack / heavy attack combos. You can just hold heavy attack, and tap surprise attack - it will trigger both, which is much friendlier with a bit of ping / lag working against you. After the opening nuke, I typically toggle on siphoning attacks and surprise attack / light attack spam. The first goes down before the other two respond to my appearance, and if magnum shots are chained together well, you simply won't take damage vs most packs.

Nice guide, btw - good to see that others have been having success with this general build =)

Yeah, impale is better than poison attacks I agree. Use impale in PvP. I burn poison arrows as I have such awesome stamina regen and cost is almost nothing...so just more-so to conserve my magica that siphon/impale can be a drain on....and can't live without dark cloak/veiled combo.

Anyone else use reapers mark (with the extra health boost morph)? I use that, magnum shot, dark cloak (helps with crit, and awesome at untriggering some of the mobs' harder attacks so they just don't hit you, if timed right), volcanic rune, and strife. The reapers mark helps kill the first, while providing extra damage boost and health when it dies, just in case your attack doesn't work as planned and you need health. With this I'm usually fine with 3-4 person mobs, and I'll throw off a random reapers mark on another target if it turns into an "oh sh*t" moment.

    Thought I'd chime in

yeah good stuff, I have reapers mark and volcanic rune on my 2nd bar...even circle of protection.

My guide works about 99% of the time...and I try for the least about of time/button pushes lol...my oh sh!t moments (like my mouse cord getting hung up and I can't move for like a full second) I use an ultimate or even a potion...or just die with an eye roll :)

Indeed, I like your configuration as well. Cloak has it's uses, and is generally excellent for single packs.

I like siphoning attacks due to it granting me the ability to solo world bosses. If it's magnum shottable, and doesnt have too many adds... simply charge a heavy attack, trigger it with magnum shot (In the same manner as triggering the opening heavy attack via surprise attack)

Repeat as needed. So far at V5 with green crafted gear, I do 700-1k per cycle with siphoning attacks on (Part of the damage reduction is countered with the rage 5 set)

You have effectively infinite resources doing this, and if the boss you are facing doesn't do much ranged ... you can just light attack, then light attack-animation cancel into magnum, then repeat from there - it goes much faster. Even 40k hp bosses aren't really a challange, as long as you can punt em back =)

Also, I might as well share this here. Hold block when using magnum shot in close quarters. Doing this will prevent YOU from being knocked back - I have found this to be an excellent workaround to punting yourself through walls, rocks, etc. It adds a whole new pile 'o usefulness to the ability's utility.

Edit: Use Flawless Dawnbreaker (Fighter's guild ult) ... Doing so basically cancels out Siphoning attacks' damage reduction when paired with the rage 5 set. In the event you really want to murder something, just toggle off siphoning attacks :P

Your slots are wrong. You need Killer's blade in slot 1, Strife 2, Magnum 3, bombard 4 and 5 siphoning strikes.

Bombard let's you place them and hold them where you like. Magnum let's you place them where you want and has the same interruptability you get from poison arrow.

You use Killer's blade to finish the low health enemies for nice healing up factor.

lol, wrong? There are so many combos that nobody is right or wrong my friend. Just one person's tactics...I thought I'd share. To each their own.

I don't like bombard because of the stamina cost...and you basically have two slots filled with an attack that does the same thing. Not to mention I don't like being in 100% control over who my attacks hit.

I admit, I see no value in siphoning strikes...never tried...

Update the OP...basically, ranged Impale added to bar...poison arrow knocked off.

Magic attacks just dominate stamina attacks too much. And with the increased HPs of Veteran Level Mobs, Impale comes in much more handy...plus, lots of boss fights makes the skill a most of the time skill instead of just situational.

Grrrr, as of the latest patch, this doesn't work anymore.
