To keep crafters going at endgame, there are some improvements and additions to the crafting system that are going to be needed. My suggestions are as follows:
1. Unique set crafting stations located in raid locations / high vet rank zones (like craglorn, for example) which provide set bonuses to gear that cannot be made or found elsewhere.
2. Some way for crafters to learn how to duplicate the set bonuses for dropped item sets - perhaps something similar to the research / decon system that allows the destruction of a dropped/looted set item in order to learn how to craft that particular type of item with those set bonuses.
3. Unique traits for weapons and armor that require two things:
a) a unique trait stone (or in the case of enchanting, unique runes) that only drops from endgame bosses
b) a training manual for each specific trait (or enchant) that drops from endgame enemies/bosses
right now, anyone can use tempers whether they have crafting skill or not to improve endgame looted items, but allowing crafters to create items with unique enchantments and effects would help with the intended goal of making crafted items the best thing you can acquire.
A jewelry crafting skill might be nice too, but that could come at a later time I suppose.
