I tend to agree that PvE is not balanced.

My first clue to this is how many bodies I step over as I progress. The next is that this is meant to be fun. It shouldnt be a massive challenge to over come every group of NPCs.

I want to be a hero, a duel wielding assassin bringing death to the enemies of my faction. I don't want to play guard number 5 from the left who is only marginally better than a bandit. Its all about risk vs reward vs fun. Ans there gets a point where progressing in Vet ranks its is almost like a second job where you have to be completely focused.

Sorry but anyone who says this game is difficult is dumb. My niece plays this game and shes 12 she has a VR12 Templar and shes been empress in pvp. She's way better than I am and I've played a few mmo's and shes new to the genre.

well if a 12 year old is allowed to play a game enough hours to do what you say social services should be called cos her parents are obviously lacking..

no way she should have the time for that with SCHOOL. and even if it was in the holidays i would never let my son play that much . id have him outside in the fresh air even if i had to switch the pc off and chase him out the house..

but from your tone in general i would suggest it might be you who is 12

I still think the most telling thing is the number of players in VR zones. I'm still questing my way through VR's (currently VR9) and I'll go hours and hours (whole play sessions) without seeing another player! Last night I was questing and another player showed up and it scared the crap out of me, that's how unfamiliar it is for me to see other players... in a massively multiplayer game! Whether you are having difficulty with VR content or not (I'm not), you can't deny the fact that most people are avoiding VR areas for some reason.

The insane damage and health increase from 50 to VT1 is just absolutely anise. If they lowered the damage of Veteran mobs the experience would be much more fun as it wouldn't be based on how good you are on building a perfect, minmaxing build to get though the content, but on enjoying the story of the opposing faction. That is what I enjoyed the most about 1 to 50, you didn't feel like you were hitting a *** brick wall.

Sorry but I completely disagree with the complaints about VR content. I play a bow wielding Templar in heavy armour, which if you ask around is about as unoptimized a build as one can get. And I am not very good at actual key pressing. I constantly press the wrong keys, drink potions when I didn't mean to, and switch weapons in the middle of combat, use my close range power against foes at long range et al.

I am really somewhat of a nightmare of a player and I quite enjoy VR content and am now VR8 and play almost exclusively solo.

If I can do it, anyone can.

You just have to take your time, think out fights against multiple mob members, and if you die you just try it again a different way.

Additionally, most quests can be completed with surprisingly little fighting if you just sneak around the large mob clusters.

But death means so little in this game if you have soul gems charged up (and if you are in VR content you should have a stack of them available), that I really doesn't matter much.

The basic problem with the polls in the forums is that many people do not come to the forums...they are a vocal minority. A large number of the guild members in my guild have left, just let their subs lapse and went about their merry ways..some went back to other games, others decided to take a break, or whatnot. Of those I asked, the answers varied in some ways, but they all came out to mean the same thing: "I'm not having fun". Whether it was from hating being forced to level thru questing, or the huge disparity in the normal and vet levels, it is the same.

Many of us travel from game to game, and know each other outside of the games, and many of them never look at the forums other than to see if there is maintenance or pull the patch notes for the guild forum. But in talking to them, yes, the insane imbalance and random mob strengths is much of the reason they leave once they hit the vet levels.

There are a lot of people that don't play the game just to have to spend hours researching the perfect build to be a cookie cutter character, notwithstanding the supposed "play your way" game design. They play to have fun, hang with their friends; whether it be running around in a group taking out dungeons or keeps, or chatting on voice while just soloing quests and enjoying the story. Once it stops being fun, they quit and quietly move on, maybe answering the "why did you decide to stop playing" questionnaire many games provide, maybe not. In the end, that's what decides a game - the amount of people in the game still having fun.

Interestingly, the "why are you leaving us?" Questioner that every other MMO has upon sub cancellation is absent when you unsub here. So I've heard. Perhaps it's been added.

It is only good business to find out why a customer is unsatisfied with your product. Especially when there are so many cancelled subs. So it's hard to understand why aren't asking. It would be a much more accurate source of feedback than these forums.

My friend was sent a survey after his account expired(interestingly enough, he hadnt cancelled, he got a new credit card and hadnt put it on the account yet) that asked why he cancelled.

His response was given a few pages back. VR sucks, main quest is too frustrating and no new content added for solo players.

Seeing next content patch was adding to Craglorn was the final straw.

Idk I like this game. It feels like an ES game to me and I'll keep playing it for a while. Content is okay, you can click through if you want or read and be entertained, balancing is okay, haven't come across any major problems with this really. Templars get a lot of crap for being the worst class, but even they have the tools to kill plenty of mobs.

if usual mobs don't do critical hits then I don't even know what to think.

my "wrecking blow" hits 500 dmg

my armor stat here is 1400hxop7drqqmgd.jpg

It's always nice to see mobs hitting their light attacks (aka Quick Strike) for ~2.5x more than players, and their abilities to HIT for about the same as players CRIT from STEALTH with a dozen bonuses to damage, sneak damage and crit damage..
And then we're supposed to find a tactics to beat that which just instantly takes away 1/3 of our HP with a single unblocked instant attack..

That's not proving skill, that's finding the most OP build with which you can literally bash your head against the wall and expect to survive when it collapses on you.

Skill would be required if we were to fight against increasingly intelligent AI (mobs in packs helping each other more and more). Not when you're expected to miraculously dodge TONS of damage from all directions, while being slower to react and WAY WEAKER than any mob you see.

You see, when SWTOR planned harder (well, harder, depends on how much do you invest in gear - green quest gear from quests makes you really weak, up-to-date blue gear makes you a demigod on your level, even more so because of being overleveled) solo content, they at least gave player COMPANIONS that could be geared equally well as players (hell, sometimes a well geared companion could almost out-dps skilled player, IF you chose to get dps companion as dps) and help them fight. That way tanks could get a dps backup to clear faster, dps could get a healer backup to survive, healer could get tank/dps companion to speed up the killing...

I mean, sure SWTOR sucked, but it sucked because of ENGINE and EA's attitude, not because of the game itself. It was one of the best though MMORPGs because of sheer number of GOOD ideas. Companions, space combat (though shameful that there were no real quests you could do with your ship, other than few daily missions by the time I left*), unique gear (90% items were just shells - costumes - for modules containing stats), account bound titles and reputations (= WAY less daily quests for us altoholics)...

*EA somehow stopped sending me one-time verification passwords and locked me out of my own damned SUBBED account. There was no operator to answer mails (maybe still isn't), just automatic replies telling you to call their call center (again, no damn text interface - they have like 40 online operators for a damned FIFA but NONE for MMORPG!?) in the UK, which would take probably a few hours and most likely solve nothing, while costing a fortune. SO I had to (REALLY pissed off) remove all my money from the account from which I had a recurring subscription (to force-freeze my sub) and deleted the damn game. I'll NEVER EVER PAY EVEN 0.00001 euro to EA again.

Current veteran rank system is stupid. Top level should have been level 50 with no further growth. Veteran ranks should have been only reputation / achievement feature. I have no issue with higher difficulty, but as I said it was supposed to be optional for players. I would still play veteran content, because I find it fun. But current system is telling me this: you are single player TES fan, that is why decided to punish you by making top vets way stronger than insect like you. We don't care about players that wabt to explore and play a little bit of PvP.

You want PvP then grind or DIE. That is how it is. Accept it or leave. This is a message that veteran ranking system us yelling at me.

Why they could not make level 50 and vet ranks only as reputation status? Vet 12 would tell me that I am dealing with player with gaming experience. Now it is telling me that it is harcore PvPer that rushed the game to gain insane advantage over pve insect visiting cyrodiil.

No. Putting everyone at the same level in Cyrodiil is one thing, however going through two more zones for those of us who like to do ALL of the content -- without any gains is not as fun nor rewarding. Stop trying to nerf things based on PVP. If someone put in more hours than you, that's how it goes!!!!!! If they were grinding XP, well that's their problem.. and boring as heck too I wouldn't bother with that personally as it defeats the purpose for me. The end game would be much more limited without VR ranks. Who the heck wants them for cosmetic purposes? This isn't Call of Duty. Also, everyone being LVL 50 would not indicate to me they have similar experience LOL. Speaking of Call of Duty, I never would "prestige" for that very reason. People would mistake me for a non Prestige before I turned them upside down and spanked them into oblivion. If anything, it would create more tears on the forums. Stop crying, Veteran is here to stay.

As per the OP, I do not think the overall gameplay is too difficult --- not in the Pre VR zones nor VR zones. In fact, I like a challenge in games.. even if it's ridiculous! They give everyone plenty of tools to overcome any challenge in the game, what else do you want? This game is very much Learn to Play.. as much as people don't like to read that, it's true.

HOWEVER, I would support being able to toggle difficulty up for increased xp and rewards. This way, others can play at easier levels, while those of us who like to increase the difficulty in games can crank it up and enjoy it our way as well!

While difficult and boring are not the same thing, in this instance too difficult does lead to either wallbashing or being bored or both. There are some things that are too difficult and no amount of the foolish L2P advice will help, because it's not a L2P issue.

The main quest should never, ever have been forced solo. That flies in the face of 'play how you like', and cuts off those who cannot beat it. This is completely assinine.

I just did the quest Scavenging for a scarab, while being a lvl 10 VR player (templar).
I died twice on two different trash trios on my way to killing the commander, then died again as the commander was within a trio as well.
Then I died again when trying to make my way out of the camp, i had to pull a trio scarab trash again, because you just *** keep zones loaded up with mobs in every corner you cant even remotely try to get out there quick.

Ok, I admit i dont have best gear obtainable atm, but on the other hand I feel damn right when i am sayin its still trash to fight and i am forced to use abilities which i dont want to use in the first place, no chance to enjoy the game when picking my own spell setup, because i start to die even faster.

Wtf is wrong with you guys?? Balance anyone?
