That. It's the standard edition that's on sale for $10, and only the physical version if it's still in stock in that particular store.

They propably just ordered too many physical copies. I and my 3 friends got it from the internet. We haven dozens of games where we have no physical copy for. Steam in particular, but also gog.com, gamersgate and the like.
Actually: Are there still people buying physical games?

Most things will "devalue" given enough time, especially if there is still large stocks available. Some others though, will go up in price ten times, if they become rare and much wanted.
This is how "collector's items" work, and collectors have a slightly different mindset than the average gamer (nothing wrong with them). I have been building a collection of "special" editions since the times when games came on floppy discs, and I will always buy the physical edition of a game. It is exactly like having an album on MP3s versus a limited collector's vinyl edition.

I defended the game to friends, saying I was sure the bugs would all get worked out.

Now, today, I can see the same things I paid almost $100 for, on sale for $10 at several stores.
The game is still buggy. Skills are still broken. I have ONE bank shared by ALL my alts, but the number of slots doesn't increase automatically to fit the alts using it.
How much longer do we expect this game to last at this rate? Sorely disappointed, because it is beautiful to look at, and is fun to play most of the time....
