I've griped enough recently that I thought I would say something good. I did this fight tonight (alone, with my level 34 sorc) and this was one of the few really rewarding hard fights I've had in this game.

Why was it rewarding? Because you don't just go in and die, go in and die, until you figure it out. You can even move to the back of the area and recuperate if you have to. Sure, it takes a while to figure out the trick, but you're not thinking about how you're hemorrhaging soul gems and/or armor repair costs, and it doesn't seem IMPOSSIBLE, just tricky.

That "tricky but interesting" line - the one just before "oh, this is ****, this isn't fun at all" - is a sweet spot that I wish this game could hit a little more often. Although I suppose that's easier said than done. One person's challenging is another person's frustrating ....
I have just told you more than I know.

So it seems. I'd never call that fight "tricky but interesting". There are no complex mechanics to work out, it's simply a test of reaction time and latency. Just "press-this-button-now-too-slow-lol-you-fail".

That sort of twitchy, FPS-style gameplay is not what I want in an MMO.

Ah, that fight. I unfortunately didn't enjoy it like you did, although I will admit that was at least partially my fault. When I tried the fight, I knew the trick ahead of time, but no matter what I did, Cassia would heal before the heal animation even displayed to me. It was incredibly frustrating. Also add that my build has very little stamina, so I couldn't spam interrupt and hope for the best. I finally ended up duoing with someone to complete it which made the fight super simple.

Later, I discovered part of my trouble was that I run ESO on an SSD that is supposed to connect to my computer over USB 3.0, but the port was only going at USB 2.0 speeds at the time. Fixed now. I can't do the fight again, but I'm hoping that would solve the "Cassia heals before the animation occurs" thing that I was experiencing. All I have to say is if that's what happens to people when they get a lot of latency, that really sucks.
You can even move to the back of the area and recuperate if you have to.

How did you do this? I went the whole way back to the entrance and Cassia follow me there. Where did you go?

Which way did you go? I found she would reset if you ran forward into the tunnel behind the altar.

I can confirm that interrupting that heal on high latency does indeed suck daedra balls. Like you, I grouped up with someone else to complete the quest.

Ah, that is probably what I did wrong. I went back to the entrance, not to the tunnel that lead to the exit. I'll have to keep that in mind for my alts. :)

Sorry to come back late. Yeah, to recuperate while I thought it out I ran toward the exit, not the entrance. Also, I can see where even the slightest latency problem would cause real difficulties there. If I missed even one interrupt I basically had to start over. (It also helps that, since I could never get the interrupt via mouse buttons right, I've had it mapped to the X key pretty much since day one.)

    I'm not finding it fun!

It's the only fight I've given up on in the game, I'm Vet level 3.
I tried everything including the Bash hint, and it did't work for me.

I could bash him a couple of times though I didn't see that it made more then a fraction of a second difference in his healing skill.

But after a couple of hits, Bash would just stop working for a while which would let him heal completely anyway.

I never go him below 75% health and then he'd just heal back up as soon as I had to heal myself or my pets, or take any other option.

If I just stood in front and tried to bash he would gradually start lowering my health so I'd have to heal again and he'd be back to 100%.

Fight confirmed NOT fun 5/18/2015. Seriously, she heals faster than a heal-specced Templar in yellows, stuns as well as a DK tank in the same, and puts out about 50% of the dps of a Nightblade equally geared.

Mainly, though, it's the damn heal that's broken as can be. Especially considering she's immune to all ranged stuns...makes this fight next to impossible for any non-stamina build out there.

If all fights in ESO were like this...as an Elder Scrolls fan and MMO fan for some time....I wouldn't play this game.

From the beginning this has been one of the most hated quests on all of ESO. I will be doing it yet again on a new toon soon. I have learned to just forget about her and over level to the point she can no longer one shot me to dead.

    2. so....other than healing for 100% of her HP/second (with .25s ticks) and the L+R bash only working ~25% of the time...what was nerfed about her?

^ I say other than because #2 was NOT nerfed, still exists as of this morning.

I fought this boss a few weeks ago on cadwell's gold and it was as impossible to do as it was on an AD toon I had a long time ago. I can manage to stay alive. Just can't seem to interrupt her or deal enough damage in between. Very frustrating fight. Had to get a friend to help me murder her.

I have no problem with dodging and interrupting all the way up to V4, solo Dolmens and World Bosses without batting an eye...run through public dungeons solo and clear them just fine...so I highly doubt the problem is being unable to interrupt and/or dodge. In fact...I'd go as far as to point out a world-boss with self-healing....that didn't heal this fast, and was actually able to be interrupted consistently....

No, I'm going with what I believe is the likely situation here: there's a bug on this boss still. Unless I magically got lag this morning when I rarely experience it otherwise and this only affected my bash attempts.

I think there should be more stamina fights. Gives a bit of flavor. I'd like more bosses to reflect all spell damage too. Tired of the 99% fights out there that are burn facerolls.

I guess we can do that...IF....we also make bosses that are completely immune to stamina damage....and that reflect all physical damage too. If you don't have a staff, you're dead, type of bosses.

As usual, the elitists are going to claim they defeated her with both hands tied behind their backs, blindfolded, and never touching the keyboard... they just "thought death" at the mob and she died.

The reality is that she is one of the bosses who is very difficult to beat if your build isn't just right to beat her. That is the nature of many bosses in this game. It's damn difficult to balance mobs when "class" doesn't mean much until you take into consideration the weapon in use, the type of armor being used, and the character's passives.

But, we must not mention such things because the elitists will become very upset if we do not acknowledge how "uber" they are...
  • Brassmonkey
I've actually tried this on nonvet with WW and she went down fairly easy. Not gonna lie thought she does appear to be bugged when you interrupt her heals. I've notice on several occasions where it'd show I clearly did the interrupt animation but it did not actually interrupt her. Just to clarify, I tested this today and can confirm it's bugged.

Here's the thing about this fight: if you're not interrupting the heal, you're not going to be able to win, pure and simple. Because the heal ticks so fast, a well-timed bash is the only reliable way to interrupt the heal. I've done this fight multiple times on different characters, both vet and non-vet. In those different times I've done the fight I've discovered that if you're not lagging and you're quick with the bash at the appropriate time, it's super easy. If you are lagging, however, it's basically impossible to get the timing right on the bash, and the fight becomes impossible.

So in a nutshell, the people who say this fight is easy are right. The people who say this fight is impossible are also right. It just depends on whether you've got any lag going on.
