Greetings!
I was having a conversation with a guildmate of mine today over TS about the game in general. We eventually came to the discussion of questing and why we thought it wasn't very exciting and why it needed some improvements.
We agree that a lot of the voice acting is outstanding (not all of it) and that the stories behind the quests aren't half bad. However, we both came to the same statement at the end:
"Quest rewards are less than adequate".
There is no real incentive to complete a quest other than the XP it rewards. The items you receive for completing a quest is either:
a) A green tier item that is worse than what you currently have--it will either be sold to a vendor or deconstructed.
b) A trophy which has no real value besides a cosmetic animation for a brief moment.
These types of rewards really only have their place in the lower-end quests. By this, I mean simple, filler quests--the quests where you go and collect an NPCs personal belongings or gather them some materials. When I'm completing a zones main quest I expect to be rewarded with something of value--something that outshines what I'm currently using.
The only time this has occurred in the entire game is when I am awarded an Epic weapon from completing the fighters guild quest in the Rift. There needs to be more quest rewards like this.
I just completed the third Alliance zone and I am a V12. My reward after returning to Cadwell? A blue necklace that gave 15 health recovery and about 65-70 max health. I can loot better gear than this off of trash mobs.
Please Zenimax, make the reward system actually mean something--give us powerful weapons and armor that we can use, or unique and special crafting materials, or knowledge of secret areas that we can adventure off to and explore!
Don't continue to make quest rewards meaningless--we deserve to be rewarded for our hard work saving lives in Tamriel.
