Crawling back to ESO

After being disappointed with the initial state of things in ESO I had unsubbed my account. I spent time going back to WoW, SWTOR, and Rift and now I find myself crawling back to ESO.

Ill admit it, I took this game for granted. Its a beautiful game and has a lot to offer...and I dont know why it took me going back to my old stomping ground game to find this out!

Im here to stay!

Well It is great you are here to stay, I hope the poor dev team, poor customer service, and just poor management dont test your patience and resolve down the road.

Love the game totally hate the useless company behind it.

Yes I realize they made the game but after making it they have been rather useless in fixing and implementing and servicing.

I have 6 days to go and just cancelled my sub, back to SWTOR for a while...I know I'll be coming back to ESO at some point in the future, Tamriel is a beautiful place, the game graphics are beautiful but there's so much letting the game down. The dialogue is bland, only a few characters stand out to me...It may just be me but it feels as though some of it has been translated into English, humour is lacking. Voice acting lacks emotion and well...think I just miss BioWare's story telling. Before anyone says that this is an MMO and not a single player game, that story isn't important - wouldn't it be nice to have both? ESO feels like a poor attempt at creating a story based MMO, SWTOR did it so much better.

we are getting to the point where there are just so many MMO's, and most of us are used to what we know. But when something new come around and it's not what we expected, kind of need to get another perspective. I personally think wow has spoiled the client base. People are wanting this game to be just as popular as other big successes, but that time has gone. there will never be a game as addicting as wow was when it first came out, becasue it was really refined for an MMO. Newer MMO's have to take new roads just not to look like what has been done already. I think ESO has done a good job about that. I really don't give a crap about the devs or CS. When I played Warcraft I never even bothered those people. And I certainly havent had a reason to bother the ESO people either, why? becasue I research my issues myself, before even thinking about calling CS, Hell I call my ISP before my CS

And it starts...once the unsubies have had enough of the "other" again they will be returning.

Maybe that's the new thing in MMOs, play for awhile then play another one then bounce back and forth for months/years.....hmmm could work.

The point is that ESO didn't hold my interest and neither did Skyrim if I really think about the quest lines, that is my personal opinion. I don't have any complaints to make about staff/management customer service or anything like that, I've never really needed them for anything and when I have they have been prompt even though not very helpful.

Meh I disagree. It got pretty annoying how most of my dialog was the same, "time to show you what a real Bounty hunter can do" or "Mayhem and violence await" I completely forgot most of the end of the bounty hunter line, Sith lord was pretty cool, but in the end it still just felt like a more enclosed Wow, where my choices didn't really matter, and I had to deal with sooo many loading screens

Having seen the state it was in during beta and then witnessing the rise of the bots in early release. Followed by the Vampire surge and other such problems.

I disagree. I would say they have done a bang tidy job and if they keep it up this game will soon be the fabulous game it should be.

    Next target VR....

If you were disappointed with the initial state of the game. You probably wont be all that thrilled with the current state of the game. The game has become even more unstable then it was at launch. Countless players are encounter bugs that are crashing the game at a prolific rate, or are being locked out of the servers outright. Sometimes for many days in a row.

The point is that this might not even be a choice you can make. Unless you are into playing very intermittently. A lot of people who want to stay and play are being forced out of the game. For the simple reason that it now refuses to run for them, and as of right now the problem seems to be entirely too much for the development staff.

If I can get on, and play for any period of time it is something of a miracle. The common state of affairs is that I get kicked from the server every fifteen to thirty minutes. I then have to close everything wait ten minutes, and repeat the same process all over again. I have pretty much exhausted the client side fixes that are available to me at this point.

I see this game as average. Is it worth a sub? Yes it is. Is this a ground breaking game like the single player games? Nope.

the biggest knock on this game us the quests and npc are just forgettable....thats really the only downside.

of course this game isn't Skyrim, oblivion, or morrowind, I didn't expect it to be. Todd Howard had total creative control over those games, and I believe all of them won game of the year awards on their release.

if Todd Howard was in charge and had 100% creative control over this game it would most likely be goty material because say what you want, but that guy knows rpg's...he got Elder Scrolls off the ground and got it started. I do believe Howard was a part if Arena back in the day.

every Elder Scrolls game Todd Howard was part of won GOTY awards. So did Fallout 3...the dude knows these types if games.

not to take away from the eso devs, its a good game, but had Todd Howard created this game, it would have been epic....

Howard is one if the only game developers to win 4 GOTY awards in a row consecutively. He designed every single player Elder Scrolls game. The dude us the Steve Jobs of RPGs.

he was named 1 of IGN top game creators of all time, he also won the best game director by the academy of arts and sciences.

I like ESO but the only mistake Zenimax made was not putting Todd Howard in charge of creating this game. Just my 2 cents.

I'm guessing you can't count that high. may be a few affected, but is defiantly not a majority getting the most recent issues

and disconnections sounds like a client side issue(especially since i do not have these), they most likely made a change, and your set up is not liking it somewhere in it's system. this is where tech support comes in. Run game consultant, attach it to an email and request that tech support take a look. it will take some time, but if you wait and dont contact them, for one you might be waiting a while for a patch, and 2 they would probably benefit in taking a look at your system so they can help support it later, or even find out what is the issue and make the appropriate changes in said patch

Staying subscribed to both ... for now. Really missed the outstanding grouping mechanics of SWTOR, which is the main reason we went back to SWTOR.

Really hope they fix grouping in this game. At no point should a player be forced into solo-play, in an MMO.

I really find them no more forgettable than the characters of warcraft, probably more memorable since I know a bit more ESO lore than i do warcraft.i didnt really start noticing some people were showing up from past quests. Idk why Televar the Artificer didn't remember me completely but it was cool when all these quest NPCs came together. and since hitting VR I've been taking more time just listening to the stories. in the beginning i treated it just like warcraft, skip ALL THE TEXT!

I just think that it was unfoolish of me to unsub so quickly. You can see how beautiful of a game ESO is graphically. I think the content and improvements will come over time. After all, isnt that what we all really want in the long run? A new MMO like WOW that will stand the test of time? Im willing to take my chances with this game after experiencing my previously played MMOs...

    Glad to have you back!

I'm still subbed to SWTOR and play it on occasion when my best friend and I need a break from ESO. Still love it but mostly because it's different from ESO. Brighter, WoW-like mechanics without the cartooniness and the stories are far more compelling than WoW ever was. Love the cut scenes and voice acting, which I find superior to ESO.

But either way, happy you're back.

yes but they are addressing the nighblade issues. it may be piece meal fixes but better than no fixes imo. As far as fixing enchanting, thieves guild and jewel crafter i'd rather they work on the class issues right now then add or fix anything else.

I don't agree that's it's a beautiful game. I think it's a clunky kitchen sink game that frustrates more then it satisfies. My problem is what it does well (non-tab targeting combat with customize builds) ruins other tab-targeting MMOs for me. When I leave (like all MMO's it will get to be more work than play eventually) I can't imagine going back to my old MMOs.

    Cya!

You exaggerate, lie and your name calling is offensive.

Nothing needs to change in Enchanting, it's difficult… should stay that way.

Thieves Guild is a content patch months away… patience. They promised new stuff every 4-6 weeks and are delivering. They never said you would get Thieves guild 2 months after release… you are delusional.

Jewelry Crafting was never promised, it was stated as being something they are looking at and would like to do… no date. How can you say they failed to deliver something that they never said they would?

Nightblade I have no opinion on as I don't play one and probably never will. If it truly is broken, I am sure they will do their best to fix it, as frustrating as the time frame may seem to people.

    Again, cya!

How can someone crawl back if only gone one month or less, and one major update. A player needs to six months away in updates to crawl back. You will most likely be gone soon, again. Oh and sub to swtor, never played it but is that f2p? If so you don't sub to it. But anyway welcome back for now.

Emphatically untrue in my opinion. The quest glitches have been ironed out. Aside from PvP, where there have been some issues, the PvE experience has been extremely smooth. EDIT: obviously, experiences differ. But there is a difference between frustrations for a small group of players and those that are universal. I've seen forums where most players are having crippling problems, and they are far angrier than these are.

    Crazy,

I keep hearing statements that npc and dialogue was terrible and un emotional. This is like one of the 2 maybe 3 games that even have voice dialogue. And I find it awsome. I hear plenty of emotion and attitude, It does not feel phoned in or fake to me.

Dark age of camelot, ever quest 2. Thd only games that have succeeded.

I'm not counting WOW that is not a game I prefer. I feel this for 5 year olds with the easy mode everything.
